I do hope this series gets an english update soon. I love reading this series, and it's one of the few sci-fi stories I feel comfortable just casually reading back from time to time.

I love how happy Serena is in 52.1 to see recognise them and how smug she seems at the end of 51.2 ^^

a somewhat entertaining start when I was reading it as it relased, about 10-15 chapters, has now turned full on mega harem slop.

Characters are not bland, although kinda quirky. Main character is not a dumbass and can even make decisions. There are some plot armors but not that it's bad. You need to have some kind of action. Universe make sense overall. Main character technically has "harem" but its more of an actaully crew rather than lets all have sex be embarrased.

Just because characters are not stereotypical slop manga character I'm recommending it.

You didn't even bother reading the tag? It is harem, what did you expect? Star Citizen?

Now just waiting for this to be made into an anime... It'd be easy for them, even using cheap CGI for the ships. Or go old school with drawn animations like Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. That'd end up making this series a golden child of the new age.
Still now sure what studio will do the animation. I hope they'll just stick with the novel because the girls in this series are really good. No fujoshi crap, no annoying male friend who's horny 24/7. Probably won't get to see Serena's super clingy and cute version since that's far off in the latter chapters. They're probably gonna end it at Chris's first arc. At least I get to see Mei and Doc Shoko.

If they got early '00s Studio Bones back together....

Okay, fantasies aside, I don't disagree, but I do hope you're wrong to some degree. There's room to stretch out the episodes in order to do some extra world building.

There's enough room that the season could end when they find Chis. Not that it should, I'm just trying to point out how much room for world building exists without ruining the pacing (if cleverly packaged).

In most cases it would be 5-15 extra seconds of something, like a snippet showing what a space-age gun range would look like when saying Mimi isn't a very good shot (maybe show her closing her eyes while taking a few shots and then having Elma or Hiro grab the side of the gun to stop her). Give a few seconds to show a random mercenary picking up a quest from scratch and making a lighthearted comment about how they ran out of savings and need more money.

Sprinkle those throughout the series (when relevant), with some rare non-Hiro focus to show his effect on the universe.

And non-Hiro focus could be partial or full episodes dedicated to showing normal mercenary or citizen life after Hiro's had an effect on the culture or individual people.

Like maybe the scary guild receptionist who got jealous of Hiro finding and Rescuing Mimi, actually starts to feel uncomfortable with what's morally acceptable and decides to volunteer for the local police or military police (whatever organization normally keeps the local peace and investigates local crimes in the Empire). An episode dedicated to him investigating a missing person's case and interacting with citizens explain what they were doing "the day of...." would probably let us see what a few different career and life paths in that universe look like quite efficiently.

Basically, I hope they give this the treatment where filler content isn't avoided, but used to tastefully add context to the universe Hiro lives in. Because, again, I think there's a lot of room to do this without ruining the pacing.

Granted, this is what I hope for, not necessarily what I expect.

If the executives at Bandai are able to buy the rights to sell the Model Kits for this series' ships, weapons, mechs, etc... or even Lego... We MIGHT get a dual-season release of 24-25 episodes, like how Rising of The Shield Hero and That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. This series has extreme potential. Including potential for a set of games based on the game that the manga has the MC play before he got Isekai'd... Although that's probably based on (Mostly)EVE Online and some other games.
What the LN and Manga execs have to do is SELL it correctly, so that the studio that IS going to make the Anime will have the time and production values from toy and paraphernalia productions.
Krishna's and Black Lotus' builds are certainly based on games where the turrets are pulled into the hull between combat/warp sequences, while most ships certainly have deployed weaponry at all times.
"Isekai'd As A Space Mercenary" has supreme potential to be a great series that is almost unending too. Although we all know that the MC is looking to end his journey one day after buying a plot of land on a Safe Planet and have a garden and soda that has carbonation instead of flat.

I think the least realistic part of this manga is that none of these star systems have impounded his ship on account of it lacking a design certification from the imperial traffic safety bureau.
