Well there is a way to make it work in known science though it's debatable if they can be done within known physics or not.
The main one would be gravity control, control gravity and such a thing would be irrelevant, though there may be a second way if you have rudimentary dimension altering tech, considering they have jumpgates, it may be theoretically possible to drop the mass into a gate.

these are of course working off theoretical science, so yeah.

The only unworldly/alien tech to us from this chapter is Mei herself, her positronic brain's calculation power, her bone alloy and muscle fiber's density and strength.

Her not flying about when waving that laser launcher can be chalked to her brain doing the math for controlled weight shifting combined with a strong body, plus maybe using some electromagnetism on her shoes to stick on the floor.
If anything, the laser launcher of that size not having an external power source or a power cord hooked to power armor(in this case Mei) using it bugs me more.
