Cause it comes off as luxorious, sure we have many items they would but as a writer shampoo is a real easy one. Most writers forget though soap and the like existed for ages just not perfumed versions.
Sure, soap existed since long ago, but soap that is perfumed and make your skin/hair smooth and all? Nope. It's a modern product, and if nobles historically will pay an arm for spices or silk, they'll pay for modern body wash. Rather, many common things we have today were exclusive to nobles in the past and only became available as time past and they became more common and affordable for peasants.

Also, it seems that many people have never seen a ferry before.

I think it's cause like say in my country when you say ferry it generally means the small people carrying ones, so it maybe a regional thing. Even our vehicle carrying ones around here are only like tugboat size nothing close to what this manga has.

I'm suprised more of these series don't have spices as the selling item although for some reason mayo gets used a fair few times lol.

Was hoping Ines will be working at the casino onboard. Also why not go around saving some more demihuan villages and turn them into seafaring nomads....except rabbit people because they are beyond saving , coming from Arifureta :shamihuh:

Well... As someone who traveled two cruise trips before, and searched a bit about ferry boats after the past few chapters, I can say that while a ferry is pretty big and can be quite luxurious, it does not compare to an actual cruise class ship.

Like, a ferry would be somewhere around 200 to 500 people while a luxury liner cruise can have hundreds of rooms, more than 10 floors and host more than 5000 people.
Even the average cruise hosts around 3000 people.

So while that ferry with capacity for 300+ people is very big and already amazing, a cruise would be, volume wise, more than 10 times bigger, possibly 20 times.

While a ferry is indeed a big boat, a cruise is closer to a whole resort floating on the water than just a huge boat.

I think a lot of others questioning this ship being called a ferry are thinking of the ferries used in places like New York for quick trips up and down rivers and whatnot. Basically just buses but with parking for your vehicles when you think about it. I know that what the word brings to mind for me.

True, these authors seem to know yet not know stuff. Like they know spices and such will sell pre-modern era - before industrialization and all that, because historically it did, but instead they'll focus on really specific, 'unique' items in small quantity. Like there's one who buys from retail in bulk and sells it the other world... like man, you're buying in bulk, buy it wholesale dammit! ...then there's every medieval isekai people loves japanese food like sashimi, oh god no, just no! *insert Gorden Ramsay - It's RAWWW! /endrant

My favorite part of any isekai is figuring out the gaps in the authors knowledge.

IRL there may be some issues with wholesaling product and not having proper records to prove either usage or sales of the product for tax purposes.

I have to say the artist did a good job recreating the interior of the ferry. I recognize most of those angles from RL travelogue videos covering Japanese ferries. And yeah, you can treat a Japanese ferry as a smaller, discount cruise ship for most things. Just less focused on entertainment(cruises) and more so on comfort/economy(ferries).

Also occurs to me that you could explain a lot of over-night transit in Japan as "What if a (train/bus/boat) was also a motel?"

next step: buying a titanic that includes unsinkable trait
The Titanic is practically the same ship as the ferry pictured here. The author is severely underrating the capacity of the ship the MC just got. The big girl in the manga looks like a cruiseferry, and they hold several thousand people.

This beast is 70 meters shorter, holds 500 fewer people, and has 12 thousand tons more volume than the Titanic, because as a ferry it has to hold more cargo. A modern cruise ship is up to FOUR AND A HALF TIMES MORE MASSIVE than the Titanic, up to 100 meters longer, has twice as many decks, and looks more like an early twentieth century skyscraper than anything we would consider a ship.

Yeah, in my country we have ferries with double the capacity (in a fourth of the size) of the depicted "ferry" inside lakes... That one is a very, very, VERY luxurious cruise ship, not a ferry: a ferry is ship you take just to reach a destination, and they are built accordingly.

Don't know what to tell you, dude. It's a ferry. It's built primarily for fast loading and unloading of vehicles in addition to obviously very generous accommodations. Regardless of what you personally define as a ferry, cruiseferries are, in fact, ferries. They're primarily a European vessel class but you can find them in Asia, too.

So... he has to pay to get any items on that ship? I mean... he was clearly scanning to buy the noodles. I thought he would unlimited refill or something. I guess he'll sell the items on the ship for profit? Lots of issues going on there that makes no sense.

In the novel it is explained, the stock will be replenished. But he still has to pay. It seemed that was the condition set by the gods, so that he wouldn't live a lazy life. He has to work to earn money. He can also sell them for money, maybe.

This series and others that use the same "use money to buy from my skills" always makes me wonder how badly is the OP screwing the economy. I mean an amount of money that some people will never see in their lifetime has just disappeared from circulation.

It not only loses teh money but the metals that were used to make said money lost. It would be disasterous economically and eventually resource wise too.
