I don't mind seeing that cool fish hippo, but that birb that got scolded looks ugh. Glad I can see it getting eaten twice though.

Mom looks so beautiful here. And hopefully, Miko will look like her someday too!

At this point I actually wonders how it works.
So far, Mieruko implies that as long as you don't have eye contacts with them, or more like, make themselves not realize that you're AWARE of their existence, things will be okay (Although to some limit, things still happen like, your hand gets numb, you can't move... etc etc)

But in this case, her family can't see anything. Assuming Miko makes eye contact with the ghost, make the ghosts aware of her, while her hands are practically IN its beak, what would happen? Will her hands suddenly limp? Or suddenly gone, because the ghost ate it?

I mean, with whatever happens with Michiru and her tentacles, I dunno how the non-psychiccer views it. We can see Michiru AFTER a lot of happenings.

I don't think ghosts can actually eat your hand (not the weaker ones like that bird at least). But they can likely mess you up on a spiritual level to some degree, which is just as bad, if not worse.

We need to consider that just like how most people don't see the ghosts, the ghosts are probably also used to not being seen. So if someone's suddenly aware of them, they might feel threatened and react aggressively. Also, there are ghosts like that balloon-holding kid(?) from many chapters ago who seem to go out of their way to mislead people into thinking they're real, likely not with benign intentions.

Funny how that otherworldly hippo was smiling almost all the time. What a happy creature.
Purin-chan with "?" at p.23 was cute
"This is just too gross", ha-ha, even Miko couldn't endure that ugly bird. Funny how gentlemen scolded him so much that he got eaten in the end, talk about power of words
Small Miko was cute, playing with rabbit ears.
"The main culprits" haha, yeah, gentlemen are at fault here.

Thank you for the translation, it was an interesting chapter

A number of Japanese ghosts work on the rule that as long as you don't acknowledge them, they can't do anything to you.

But some of them can straight up murder you the moment you do acknowledge them.

Which is why we keep having a recurrence of hostile ghosts doing their usual freaky shit, realizing this random girl apparently noticed, and then getting up in her business to try to force a reaction.

The ghosts don't seem able to physically interact with people but they do seem to feed on life force? So I imagine if Miko ever gets caught and eaten, to everyone else it would just look like she collapsed and went into hypothermia or cardiac arrest or whatever.

IIRC, the false fox god thing was turning the corpses of its victims into familiars.

Thank you for the translation! No shame on the other group/person, but this made a lot more sense. ALSO, I haven't re-read the series in a while, why doesn't the mother know Mieruko can see ghosts? I feel like she knew the dad could, at least it wasn't a secret.
