at the end of that arc, the lady spirit that cries while vanishing was the "skull" so i think they moved on for good. theres then an enshrined stone that breaks and then Miko comments on seeing "something". there's also a large figure in the mountains for a single panel

my assumption is that Michiru is whatever that thing was, but she's disguising as a high school girl? maybe its easier to "hunt" other spirits like that?
