It gets a fair bit grimmer in the second half, just to warn you. (This is where the "One snowy day" comes from, as well.)

Anyone reading this might notice I started to do some of the bigger SFX (which I do not normally do), but some minor RL health problems meant I was kinda going slower with this than I liked (plus I'm doing like five series at once at the moment... overambitious much), so I thought I'd upload it as is (since everything else was done). Apologies if it looks bad that there's only a couple of these in English.

He probably already placed hidden cameras at her place anyway :fml:

Ngl im very surprised nobody (in the manga) as of this time has thought of the possibility she's bringing these customers home since she clearly is mentally slow and naive; high chance she would be taken advantage especially in this kind of industry. I know they briefly told her in the beginning that they dont mingle with customers outside and the social media thing but she literally probably only took that as "only on social media" or something

It's a hard one to comment on because I'm not an expert on anything related to this, and I'm guessing the author didn't want to go too far into spelling stuff out because she is at least partly talking about a real person, and drawing on real stuff that happened to her or around her, even if the story is more like "based on true events" or whatever overall.

That being said, my interpretation based on what I read the mangaka saying, how her story's gone so far, and where the raws that I've seen go is: while the club isn't quite "couldn't care less", their first concern is money. They would presumably not be outright breaking any laws, or not to the point the authorities want to get involved. "Mii-chan" is a vulnerable adult, but despite her disability she's capable of thinking for herself just enough to make it easy to handwave any problems.

I think Yamada's meant to be genuinely surprised, but then remember Yamada's barely a functioning adult herself (i.e. 21 is really not that old) - she's smart, but clearly not exactly worldly-wise. There's some stuff in the next part that goes a bit further into this. Also other chapters talk about how the system treated people with that kind of disability or special need back then - moderate story spoiler for 5.1 and 5.2 -

we meet one of Mii's friends who in some ways was even worse off than she is now, but who's ended up in a very different place

I'm guessing it would probably be a bit different now rather than in 2012 - Japan really started cracking down on the yakuza and specifically Kabukicho a few years back. Then again, even doing very quick research for this, I'd keep finding out stuff that made me think "Oh, Jesus" - there's a bit in 2.2 where I was like "Will I be able to find articles talking about what that was like back then?" and straight away bam, tons of English-language articles saying "Yeah, that's still a big problem now".

Wtf? I knew Japanese students had to take entrance exams to get into the high school of their choice (along with any college/university of their choosing, which is obvious). But I didn't know that extended to elementary school. That's kinda wild I won't lie.

Thank you for the translation.
