MikuDex function suggestions

I came across this in a reddit post and the devs said that they plan to add stuff on MikuDex if they have anything to add. Well, in my opinion, MikuDex can host the following functions:

+ Follow manga in reader
+ Compare translated chapters (switch between translator groups)

Well, if you have any ideas about it, feel free to share some. I don't really mind if this gets rejected or not.

To be clear, [following a manga in the reader is] rejected until I find a good way to implement it that doesn't involve hitting the API for no reason 99% of the time, or overly optimistic caching. Technically this has been on the TODO list since the day I started working on the reader.

@bigtiddyoneesan why yes, of course that's a given, but what I'm trying to say is that... If they actually make it function properly, the button should be in MikuDex.

I'm unclear as to the purpose of this thread. Is it for reaffirming/discussing the utility of planned/'maybe' features, in addition to brainstorming new features?

Well, in my opinion, MikuDex can host the following functions:

^This reads as two suggestions you have for the site that you are open to discussing. Sidenote, but I'm 95% certain that "Compare translated chapters (switch between translator groups)" (specifically, opening two different translations in the same browser tab as a ways to compare them) is rejected.

And just to be sure, you're referring to MangaDex and MikuDex interchangeably, right? (Yes, I'm aware of the Miku easter egg.)

Ye, maybe I just want this to be a discussion on what functions can MikuDex serve bcuz at this point, its just a tab with no functions.

When I said that 'I don't mind if this gets rejected or not', I meant that people seeing this post, especially the admins, can disagree with the suggestions I proposed. In the same time, I wanted to discuss other potential features that 'can' be added to MikuDex, whether they're already existing functions or not.

Basically, what buttons can you add to MikuDex so that it's not useless?

Like, for example, you can make MikuDex a mobile-exlusive UI where all the common buttons used such as settings, fullscreen, comments, report chapter, etc. Are all there. Conventionally, they also add other non-existent functions, such as following the manga if you haven't yet and/or compare translated chapters (both of which has been rejected... So far).

Also, I didn't knew that the 'switch between translation groups' has already been rejected since I checked the sticky a few times before and haven't came across such rejected feature (that is, unless the suggestion was rejected recently, since the sticky was last updated 5 months ago).

Oh, I see now. Well, I wouldn't count on anything worthwhile being added to an easter egg.

Regarding mobile layout changes specifically though, I wouldn't get my hopes up. The site's layout is just based on how far you're zoomed in (if you zoom in 200% on desktop, you'll see the 'mobile' site). Tablet/phone reading is best done on Tachiomi or alternative apps.

True, you do have a point that tablet/phone reading can be done in alternative apps, and it would be next to unnecessary to add other functions to MikuDex. There are more conventional ways to improve the reader, and MikuDex will (most likely) remain as an Easter egg until the day this website dies.

Like you, I ain't getting my hopes up. Lol
