I feel attacked reading this on my 10+ year old computer chair, I got for free from a closing down psych hospital, that can no longer adjust it height, is now hard and uncomfortable to sit on, rocks a little bit, squeaks with the slightest movement, and has one broken armrest.

you shouldn't compromise on few things in life, and IMO if you actually spend extended period of time in it, chair is close second, after good bed.

My chair never had coverings on the armrests so every few months I have to retape them so the spikes don't stab me. My chair will outlive me

My family has 2 recliner chairs that can also rock and they've been thru the wringer and are 20 years old, but they still in good'ish condition.
