Jojo, JJK, Black Clover, House of the Dragon (well that’s mostly because of the writers ignoring GRRM input and making it into a fanfiction. Nothing wrong with fanfic but you can’t put that into a show where it’s suppose to a base on the book.), Tokyo Ghoul when it was popular with tumblr heads, Boruto, and Hazbin Hotel (AND I WAS DAY ONE FAN FOR THIS ONE!) I genuinely cannot enjoying those shows because of either the fandom or the writers.

This is so fucking ME that it hurts.
I refuse to engage with a TON of popular media just because the people who like it are painfully annoying.
Some weeb-specific examples include: Fate, Evangelion, the entire concept of vtubers (I'm sure they're nice people and genuinely entertaining, but some people WILL NOT shut up about them, and get real weird about it.)

Reminds me of my time in the touhou fandom.

I read the manga still sure but I stopped engaging with the fanbase.

One advice? Avoid fandoms like the plague, specially if they are big.

You'll have one look and wonder how that individual learnt to write and use the internet, let alone get out of the womb for spouting opinions that make you wonder if you have read the same story at all.

I've dropped MHA for this and there are a lot of mangas and animes I'm not giving a try because how much they have spoiled the story, like JJK, Chainsaw Man or Re Zero.

Reddit was a mistake.
Sorry for the rant.

Something tells me any "fandom" Mimi's part of will immediately bend to her will or send the ratlings scattering otherwise. Folks have already said it. If you enjoy something and don't like the bulk of the other people who enjoy it, simply do it privately. If it really bothers you, leave a review or write an article with your preferred inferences and intonation. In short, controlling others is not something you should be trying to do, but it's not that hard if you do need to do it...

That's my wife's opinion on Steven Universe, and mine on MLP.

Which is funny, because I watched SU and she watched MLP.
Sounds like you were made for each other then.
Trouble is every fandom inevitably becomes dominated by terminally online obsessives. Those typically only make up a few percent, but they write most of the posts, and relentlessly evangelise out of context.

Sword Art Online.

The fact that the Abridged series is not only better written but better acted and less cringe to watch in general significantly raises the bar, despite the incestuous fans who can't stop dick-riding their Japanese Anime Pretty Boy Sith Jesus.

And that's not even covering most of the garbage that is SAO.

Ultrakill, for one. I used to be deep in those trenches, but it’s hard to care when there’s only one joke ever.
more like they haven't updated the damn game in a while and there's nothing to keep me around

at least you're not a transphobe

I think the complaint on vtubers applies to streamers as a general concept. the whole para social thing is whack, regardless of if the person you're idolizing uses some digital persona

I kinda feel like Mimis comment is targeted at the girl next to her as the fan base

But if we avoid every fandom for everything we like, then why would we ever comment for Mimi???? What if Mimi fans are toxic?????

The problem is with annoying fanbases is trying to find someone with whom you can hold a genuine conversation about the subject at hand; or at least someone who isn't a total nutcase.

Who is hyped about it can be a good indicator who the real target audience is and quickly filter things that you know probably won't be for you
like if you see some pretentious 2deep4you types suddenly excited about something you know it'll be either the most boring garbage you ever seen/heard, but is trendy to know it in some weird social circle, average slop that pretends to be intellectual or both
something is really popular with people new to x or in general media but not really in more niche places? you have seen this 10 times before and it's just beating the same dead horse again and again
edgy teenage girls on idk twitter or tumblr hyping it? it's bland shit that pretends to be edgy, it's gay, or both
even more accurate if you know the person directly
