Dreams of post scarcity society, which IMO would oneshot our species into oblivion.
But being NEET is a valid option even now. In majority of 1st world countries, your absolute basic survival needs WILL get covered by the state/society, meaning you actually can do nothing and said state/society won't allow you starve, freeze to death or stay naked, which was unheard of for like all of our history and would be a literal paradise for people living hundreds or thousands of years ago.
The problem is most NEETs want a specific level of living, which is also way above most of (working) humanity.

Its ok Mimi, even if you study a lot for many many years there's no guarantee that you'll land a job and then you'll look back at all the time you spent studying thinking that you then might go through even more studies to increase your chances until you find out that what increases your chances is being a social butterfly - something that people with autism struggle with.

I love that people less competent than me can get jobs instead of me because they are better at navigating the bizarre hell that is the interview process.
