Archer did it for a few seasons, but we knew he was in a coma the whole time and they just used it to basically make alternate universe stories.

It generally refers to a certain style of immersive sim games or just generally just immersive sims in more recent years. Originated as a reference that got turned into a kind of a meme in the genre and eventually turned eponymous. So stuff like System Shocks or (especially old) Deus Ex games. You play a game like that, chances are that the first door or chest opens with that code.

The 2017 version of Prey is possibly last true torchbearers of the genre, one of the most vilely assassinated gems of that decade and one of my favourite games ever. If only they went with the obvious "Psychoshock"... Also, if you haven't played it, I can vehemently recommend it. I could talk for hours about it.
