I only have one question and I think it's a pretty fair one.

Even if we are to entertain the idea of a group of people determining whether certain people qualify to be human or not, (and tbh, we've been there to some extent if we look at slavery and the holocaust) but how here, are they determining who qualifies and who doesn't? It just seems so random, that a guy who seems to be a top student, who has parents who are both classified as human is suddenly classified to be livestock. What parameters did they use to determine that lol?? Is almost like a child of nobility being considered a peasant even though all his blood relatives are nobility.

But anyways maybe I'll see the answer further on. It's a very weird and yet not so far fetched concept tbh, besides the implied cannibalism. That's just an extra level that makes it weird asf.

Seems interesting, I wonder (not really) if the rich kid has anything to do with MC being refused his human rights.
