dropped at chapter 27. hoooohh boy, i really tried to power through for this one. i think i just have an intolerance for love triangles, especially when the leads are already in a committed relationship. it leaves an especially acrid taste in my mouth too, considering that the ml has had past relationship issues with infidelity.
ml gives a lot of red flags with how insecure he is in the relationship and how it affects the fl's confidence in trying to accommodate for that. this sort of dynamic is to be expected from shoujo, but it doesn't particularly help to redeem the manga with the frustrating plot developments the author has chosen to take.
i think this premise would have been a lot more palatable if it explored what it means to be in love, one's first experience in a relationship, and—to keep in line with the intent of "miniamaru"—trying to navigate boundaries with differing expressions of affection and levels of commitment. i feel that my biggest issue is that i was trying to take this manga seriously and expected some level of maturity amidst the comedy, and that is unfortunately not what this manga was trying to be.
well, i can't say for certain actually, since i stopped a third of the way in. i won't stop anyone from trying to read further, as my tastes aren't universal, and there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with me and wanting to enjoy the series. i genuinely hope those that want to read to the end find the series to their liking and enjoy the experience. for those who are disappointed by the end, i hope you at least discovered more about your reading preferences in the process.
