I can't not see this as the same genre as Shangri-la Frontier. Its a guy, having a near future gamer moment, interacting with some elaborately programmed AI.
Whats interesting to me is how when writing an initial prompt, you need to give it a history and some sort of purpose. The funny thing about this story was watching the best friend actually plan out independently and manage the other AI; I think this will be the real way forward for dating sims. Interesting to see that adding in stuff like "effort" can make a resulting situation more believable. Very westworld programming in the future indeed.
