from what i've gathered i think this manga's a hell of a lot deeper than it seems - a blend of cute fluffy femboy bl but also a feeling of dread, like you want these two together but you know within the game it's basically (as of now, i havent finished) impossible and everything is in vain no matter how hard the protagonist tries. it's sort of bittersweet because they're so cute together and the protagonist is adorably adamant on trying to get together with misaki, but it's kinda of sad and hopeless because the (admittedly goofy and sweet) protagonist's oblivious and naive determination wouldn't come to anything too far even though it's extremely cute
that aside, i see this world as maybe some sort of paradigm of the real world or like misaki is insistent on his role as the supporting character or what they call "best friend character" persistently sticking onto it seemingly without much thought given to it, like he's just following what he's been told and his role in the game is final or him - everytime the protagonists attempt advances on him he insists that he's only there as a supporting character and no more than that - he started to fold when jealousy overcomes him as he slowly realizes his own feelings when hareta was getting along with the heroines and he begins to see for himself what he truly feels
everytime they try (or hareta tries to do something with misaki like touch him or hold hands with him taht one time) the game sort of tries to intercept them, almost like a parable of the real life, especially around the area since i've heard japan's not very rainbow-friednly (from what ive heard im not sure if thats true) - maybe it's a critique on social standards and expectations? a confusion in one's identity? a love that's not permitted within the world? it's beginning to look psychological ngl
sorry for the yap i just really lvoe this manga and people dont give it enough credit for what it really is
