In the original novel - Awrin was a person who killed people but keep an innocent façade before Iibelin and she probably didn't know what his actual personality is like.

With MC - He doesn't fake being innocent before her and from the very beginning behaved as he pleased and now promised to not-kill-her-even-if-he's-pissed A.K.A (I don't want you to be afraid of me.)
