Sembero sounds impressive, considering the cost of living there. A 1,000 yen is about 1 lunch meal with some chump change. Getting drunk with that amount in a bar setting is quite something.

But on the other hand. If the objective is purely getting drunk, I think you can get something like 4-5 cans of cheap beer with that amount? Chugging that many would do the trick, too. Or better yet, you can find travel size whiskey (those around 200ml a bottle) in convenient store, too; although anything in that price range will taste very shitty, but it gets the job done, though.

Oh, they're not minors

With this kind of plot I always thought the main characters were in high school (unless it stated that they were not)

She mentioned 2 chapters ago having an apartment in his city ready for her and her lover. and apparently shes ran a business "all through her school years".

Yeah, either an idol or definitely an adult.

Okay the possibility that maybe, just maybe, the FL got the wrong person reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal, of all things.
There, one side character had initially chased after the MC thinking he was the one she had a crush on. After a quite blown to proportion chase sequence, the misunderstanding is resolved, only for her to hit her head and the cycle to continue (albeit on a cliff hanger).

It would be funny for younger me if this ends up a similar case.

I like her cope, I should have tried that one myself a few years back.
I wasn't like laid off or anything, we just haven't gotten to the point where they still want to keep me....

lol a cheap bar to get drunk at sounds convenient if not annoying depending on how many ppl are there to hit on drunk ppl, i wonder if some ppl do 'to go' stuff, i mean i guess usually you can't get cocktails to go versus bottled stuff but it's not an issue with most ppl in japan not driving

Typical weirdos in the comments, seeing two friends of the same sex for 0.000192 microseconds and immediately shipping them, despite absolutely zero romantic implication whatsoever. Touch grass.

Well they probably look good together aesthetic wise but more likely to happen in fiction/animanga as opposed to seeing two girls getting along in public/irl and assuming they're a couple

IDK about japan brands but i hear soju bottles have a pretty high alcohol count and tastes better than vodka but they might be lightweights, who knows, considering how 'skinny' so many chara designs are

that said, translation issues aside does sound like it'd be appealing to tourists too (i also heard about some hotel room you can stay in for like 1dollar a night as long as they live stream you which does sound weird but it's in a public setting as opposed to there being cameras set up in like a changing room area)

The trope is to usually make Jirai-kei with a lot more money than sense. Considering she spent her time shaping her future for someone she seemingly lost contact with, that’s just very silly on her end.

i guess a lot of ppl would take it personal when not recognized but depending on how long even if you don't do a style change i wonder how many ppl would recognize considering ppl age differently (although you'd think he'd find her cute enough to just roll with it or so unless he's avoiding her b/c of her aesthetic)

tho given the title surprised it's not more of the male mc's pov yet or so, or maybe it really is a misunderstanding on her end

Soju is around 20%, at least in my country. It's only half of typical vodka which goes at 40%+, but yeah, it's also a lot easier to drink. I can't really drink vodka on the shot, but I can down a bottle or two of soju neat just fine (and I mean the drinking part, I'm not really that 'fine' after a whole bottle or two of soju, lol). Chilled it and take in shots between Korean BBQ - Mmmm...

Not sure about price range of soju in Japan though. But if it fits the bill of going under a thousand yen (extra points if you can get more than one bottle), that's a good contender.

Ok my guess is that girl is her friend from the past that either just dressed like a boy or he got a sex change.

Alternatively they run into the same guy again or maybe a new guy but she actually has facial dysphoria and is just crazy going up and annoying any guy she meets.
Considering the time that passed since they last saw one another, one doesn't need face blindness to be unable to recognize the other person.
With how much people change from childhood to adulthood, being able to recognize one another would be more strange.
Unless, of course, one of them has distinctive features like lack of eyes.

I mean, i'm not rly much of a drinker but given the 'emotional' state at this point she could have a single oolong highball if not a normal drink and just suddenly start crying and so and acting as if she's drunk regardless of the content

You make a good point, but I have met childhood friends about 14 yeas later and most of them are able to recognise me.
And I was also able to recognise them, at a certain point it comes down to more than just looks but also the feel of the person.
Sound, smell, personality, style can all be contributing factors.
Which is something I overlooked in my original post. So you did raise a really good point.

You would want something that doesn't require aging at all (time is money) so whisk(e)y is probably out. A neutral grain spirit like vodka or gin is likely to be the cheapest. I don't know what really cheap shochu but since it can be produced from just sugar with no grain (I think) it should be cheap as well.

Shochu is up to twice as strong as soju typically, I think. I've tried a couple of the barley shochus (Iichiko Silhouette $21/750ml and Iichiko Saiten $36/750ml) but shochu is uncommon in Arizona so I haven't had any of those produced from other ingredients such as sweet potato, which is supposed to have a stronger taste. Silhouette has an almost neutral taste but the Saiten has a much stronger taste similar to sake. (Total Wine site has Silhouette at 25% (50 proof) and Saiten at 43% (86 proof, whiskey territory). It also groups the Spirit Type together with Soju.)
