uuh so this is usually happened when someone tried to hide their pregnancy and didn't check up regulary and don't know the delivery date
sometimes there's rare case they didn't know they were pregnant(their body isn't showing either) and it happened when they thought they got stomach ache and goes to toilet
Yeah but those are cases for really overweight women, and the image shown of Miyu's mom didn't seem to be the case, if she couldn't keep track of her pregnancy chances are higher on her not actually caring about being pregnant having given up on getting an abortion, rather than her not knowing that she was pregnant
I was thinking about maybe if she was a heavy drug user that could lead to a situation in which she accidentally ended up giving birth on a toilet, but this story takes place in Japan, and fake Miyu's mom would have gotten arrested for drug use when making the birth registry, because there's no way that woman remains sober or functional in her day to day, in fact it is super odd that she has a birth registry at all if her mom was that bad

can be born to loving capable parents. Miyu-chan's mom wasn't exactly loving, or particularly capable, but she didn't completely abandon Miyu.
https://www.nytimes.com/1997/06/25/...-woman-18-with-killing-baby-born-at-prom.html Pretty famous case, yeah. Girl goes to prom. Girl delivers baby in bathroom. Girl strangles baby and disposes of it in the trash. Girl goes back to prom.
I don't consider the first case to be a toilet baby, toilet babies are just an unfortunate common term for newborn abandonment
The informal term refers not to the act of accidentally giving birth on a toilet, but to the act of abandoning the baby on a toilet because it is easy for women with an unwanted pregnancy to go into labor in a secluded space and leave the baby there
A different but also sadly common example in Japan is the unfortunate trend that started in the 70s and which continues to this day (last public known case being 2022) of abandoning babies on coin operated lockers

My point thus is that given the appearance of of Miyu's mom, she doesn't looks like the kind of woman that would keep her baby after haven given birth to it on a toilet, when the trend for such cases is for the baby to end up being abandoned or dying, even less for her to then take the baby and register it at a later date
If law enforcement finds a dead baby, they're going to open up a homicide investigation and potentially find the mother who left their child to die. That aside, even if her mother was negligent enough to not keep up with her due date and give birth to her in a toilet, it takes a special kind of psychopathy past that to leave a newborn child-- and especially your newborn child-- to die.
That's under the assumption that they recognize the child as theirs, just ending pregnant doesn't means that a bond is made between a woman and the baby, becoming a mother takes a lot of effort and will
Even for women who want to have kids, they will suffer post postpartum depression, and for weeks feel conflicted about whether or not they actually love their baby
If we add to this rape victims, underage pregnancies, as well as unplanned pregnancies, the cases of women abandoning babies after giving birth grow all the more, specially with the increased global trend of antiabortion laws being passed, i don't see that as an example of psychopathy at all
On the contrary i think the idea of forcing someone that doesn't wants to have a baby, and who clearly is not showing any disposition to care for a baby, to fulfill a pregnancy and then raise a kid against their will, and ruining 2 entire lives in the process, as a more proper example of psychopathic behavior
