Last chapter Yuushin was still wearing his school uniform, so the author made him change into that weird T-shirt for no reason but to make his mother acknowledge its weirdness as well?
It's his own home. His mother expected him to change into better outfit when treating a guest maybe

Yeah but those are cases for really overweight women, and the image shown of Miyu's mom didn't seem to be the case, if she couldn't keep track of her pregnancy chances are higher on her not actually caring about being pregnant having given up on getting an abortion, rather than her not knowing that she was pregnant

I was thinking about maybe if she was a heavy drug user that could lead to a situation in which she accidentally ended up giving birth on a toilet, but this story takes place in Japan, and fake Miyu's mom would have gotten arrested for drug use when making the birth registry, because there's no way that woman remains sober or functional in her day to day, in fact it is super odd that she has a birth registry at all if her mom was that bad
not for overweight, that's why i said rare and i just look it up it's called Cryptic pregnancies apparently
not really, if it's their first pregnancy mostly they didn't know what to do and since they don't want anyone know they didn't ask or seeing doctor for consultation.
and most of them don't want to kill the baby with abortion

Sure may as well have her being born on a toilet, but did she really? for those cases which do happen the baby is usually abandoned, however her mother keep her and even registered her birth

And that just doesn't tracks for toilet babies, who either die or end up in the care of the state

This manga is wacky enough for her story to be real, but the narrator is also a master manipulator
I don't buy it that her mother who raised her is the same mother who gave birth to her. That is why she doesn't know her exact birth number because for some weird reason fake miyu ends up in her adopted mother

Just maybe

But fake miyu ends up growing up not aware of the love of her mother who raised her. I am still confused about this...

Ok.
One thing that was making it harder to the theory of the fake fake miyu is her flashback of dysfunctional parents, but, now we know the real miyu parents are divorced.
I really believe we had a generic miyu, but I think this generic miyu is the one that died but not even her parents know it.

It's implied that they divorced after their daughter died, which is actually a pretty realistic scenario when two parents handle the loss very differently
It's implied, but not confirmed.
We don't know anything how her parents was and based on MC, he didn't know a lot either.

That's under the assumption that they recognize the child as theirs, just ending pregnant doesn't means that a bond is made between a woman and the baby, becoming a mother takes a lot of effort and will

Even for women who want to have kids, they will suffer post postpartum depression, and for weeks feel conflicted about whether or not they actually love their baby

If we add to this rape victims, underage pregnancies, as well as unplanned pregnancies, the cases of women abandoning babies after giving birth grow all the more, specially with the increased global trend of antiabortion laws being passed, i don't see that as an example of psychopathy at all
Leaving your newly born flesh and blood to die of exposure is psychopathic. It is a staggering disregard for human life. It is murder, unambiguously. People who do this are prosecuted for murder, and they (probably, hopefully) always will.

This is different than leaving your child at the doorstep of an orphanage or a designated "safe haven" area, or wherever else a child is expected to be taken care of when their parents don't want them and aren't formally arranging an adoption. The fact that these exist is part of the reason why leaving your born child to die of exposure is psychopathic: there's no normal circumstance where you would have to do that. Additionally, we prosecute for this as child neglect and murder when it happens at any point of time after their birth-- but the act doesn't somehow become more like child neglect and murder the older they get. It just is fatal child neglect.

On the contrary i think the idea of forcing someone that doesn't wants to have a baby, and who clearly is not showing any disposition to care for a baby, to fulfill a pregnancy and then raise a kid against their will, and ruining 2 entire lives in the process, as a more proper example of psychopathic behavior
We're not talking about abortion-- we're talking about leaving born children to die of exposure, sometimes in literal trash cans, in a world where nobody is forcing you to do that. Whether you ever wanted to take care of a child doesn't have anything to do with your responsibility to not kill your already born children. If it did, we wouldn't ever prosecute child neglect.

I thought generic!Miyu look almost exactly like real!Miyu after all this time wtf :worry:
Hum...
To be honest, the MC said he didn't remember her face, so we don't really know.
But since I think this one is the real Miyu I think this is a bait.

Honestly, the fact that Miyu's father is in on this really hurts the idea that this Miyu is a totally separate person to the original. Why would he choose to say "Yes, that other Miyu is my daughter" rather than explain the stunt double scenario Minyuu gave Yuushin?

I really like the inclusion of real Miyu 's father being in on the daughter switcheroo. Having your daughter be murdered is a really good reason to accept such a zany plan - sounds like Papa's got it rough :fml:

Same goes for miscarriages and for spontaneous infant death, which are also prosecuted as murder, even when the mothers had nothing to do with the death of their kids, and actually did wanted to become mothers, using a broken legal system as a moral base to define what is wrong is pointless

https://www.pregnancyjusticeus.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Pregnancy-as-a-Crime.pdf

This is different than leaving your child at the doorstep of an orphanage or a designated "safe haven" area, or wherever else a child is expected to be taken care of when their parent doesn't want them. The fact that these exist is part of the reason why leaving your born child to die of exposure is psychopathic: there's no normal circumstance where you would have to do that.

Not all countries have safe heaven laws, which is the case of Japan, in which child abandonment regardless of whether the baby survives or not is also prosecuted by law, with a punishment of 5 years in prison, so the act of leaving a child at an orphanage is already a crime, unless the mother formally interns the child, which defeats the whole process of not wanting the child, because it requires of the mother to first acknowledge the child as her's

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_hatch

In fact the fact that Japan only recently is adopting this mechanism has slowly, very slowly reduced the rate of abandoned babies, but only in the Kumamoto prefecture were the system is being implemented, for the rest of the country there's no options

But added to that not every city has an orphanage

Not every woman knows about them or whether their own city has them, or the legalities of interacting with one

Nor even considers such thing as an option specially if from the very start they don't acknowledge their pregnancy, and the options that don't exist are not made in order to facilitate the adoption of the child, but to punish the woman who doesn't wants nor can't raise the child, as just so happens to be the case for Japan, because being too poor to raise a kid is also punishable by law

Additionally, we prosecute for this as child neglect and murder when it happens at any point of time after their birth-- but the act doesn't somehow become more like child neglect and murder the older they get. It just is fatal child neglect.

We prosecute before the child is born too, just the act of ending pregnant can already put a woman at risk of becoming a criminal, even if they want to have the kid, as explained on the document linked above in this comment

We're not talking about abortion-- we're talking about leaving born children to die of exposure, in a world where nobody is forcing you to do that.

Yes we are, because birth control is one of the main solutions to avoid unwanted pregnancies and the horrible situations of newborns getting killed

In a world that stigmatizes abortions, criminalizes them, doesn't offers support nor educates young women on how to handle a pregnancy, nor protects them against abuse, and doesn't offers infrastructure at neither physical nor the social levels for a newborn to be adopted in the cases in which an unwanted pregnancy is carried to term

And that on top of all that, also criminalizes and judges women for not raising the children they give birth to regardless of how they ended pregnant, child murder is pretty much a forced option for women that never wanted to have one

Women are being forced to be murderers, child abandonment is not something that happens on a whim, and the phenomenon can't be simplified and chugged to some convenient mental anomaly, it is a product of an unfair society that refuses to face the problems of the people who end having to give birth against their will

Denying such reality and acting like everything is fine and that there's no base problem leading to this tragedies is plainly irresponsible, if you actually do care, then start up with actually understand why these things happen, and what needs to actually be done in order to stop them from continuing

Instead of creating a fantasy about psychopaths that would prefer putting themselves at risk of death from birth complications, by going into labor in a public toilet, instead of getting themselves admitted into a comfortable hospital and opting to put their child into an orphanage

Among all the known cases of child murder due to abandonment, not even one single woman, ever testified to them wanting for things to turn they way they did

Whether you ever wanted to take care of a child doesn't have anything to do with your responsibility to not kill your already born children. If it did, we wouldn't ever prosecute child neglect.

It does when as just so happens to be the Japanese case, there's only 2 actual options being offered, you raise the kid yourself, or you don't

The idea that every woman who ends with an unwanted pregnancy has free access to medical care, to freely decide whether or not they want to give birth, and then transition towards putting the unwanted child into an orphanage when the pregnancy advanced to a point in which it would be too risky to terminate, is a fucking delusion that ignores the reality of the world we live in

Same goes for miscarriages and for spontaneous infant death,
We are talking about people throwing already born children in the trash can. Whether or not you can get an abortion prior to that point has no bearing on throwing an already born child away like garbage.

Not all countries have safe heaven laws
Which still doesn't change the fact that someone putting a baby into a garbage bin is leaving them to die by exposure. It does not change the fact that a whole life, that just about everyone in the present day agrees is a human life and person and whatever else we are, is being left to die. You were able to recognize the life of the born child earlier, but it doesn't appear to be sinking in that-- whatever the circumstance of the mother-- they are still killing a child. Their child, moreover. A life, gone, and we're supposed to care that it happened because the mother for whatever reason didn't want to have a child?

Would you try to argue this with someone who was left to die in a dumpster as a newborn?

You are having a conversation about how to supposedly prevent this, but that still has nothing to do with the circumstance where the child is born and then is left to die, suffocating while bearing pathogens and the elements. The lack of ability to get an abortion does not, not even minimally, justify killing an already born child-- not unless you want to argue for post-birth abortion, perhaps to "make up" for whatever abortion they apparently weren't able to have.

And that on top of all that, also criminalizes and judges women for not raising the children they give birth to regardless of how they ended pregnant, child murder is pretty much a forced option for women that never wanted to have one
Because they killed a kid. Their kid. What they wanted, is separate from the fact that they left their already born child to die. Nobody forced them to commit murder-- the circumstance of "not wanting to become a mother" isn't a force, because there are multiple options to take that don't involve killing kids.

I have a crazy theory

This Miyu might be the original Miyu, and she might have create this "fake persona" to cope with some trauma.

Until the story explicitly confirm that Miyu died, there's still a possibility that the author might come with this kind of twist.
