Can we get rid of Pakis pls. I don't care how; kill him off, have him go somewhere else, I don't care-- just get him out of the story

But not frim huh? I get you~ frim is really annoying when she keeps on sparing Pakis for no good reason, clearly only setting herself up for tragedy in the future (or at best, delaying it until it happens anyway). Any unhappy life she gets is kinda self-deserved, since she tenderly crafts and raises the destruction-flags all by her lonesome.
While talareen is - as far as we have seen so far - just someone in a pitiable position (with far better quality clothes and health than any of her slave-peers, which suggests she is in a position of power over the rest of them), so wishing her some luck makes sense. Particularly as she won't just instantly waste it.

Frim needs a happy life. They should show how bad it was for before she got reincarnated into.

Man that is one evil kid, makes me wanna get him to bite the curb. Especially after seeing what he did to the common folk who questioned his abuse in chapt 1. I'm not gonna apologise, you let minors get away with too much you end up in another Junko Furuta situation. I'm a firm believer in reformation but some lines once crossed theres no going back.

Why does she need 6 people to accompany her to a nobles place
she got one fat guy to lead her to a filthy gambling den full of low lifes and slaves
anyway its still dumb how the boss went off character to antagonize pakis
you already know hes gonna join some rival gang to try and kill her starting a war now 🤷‍♂️
Inside the slave pens is their territory, so they figure that they only really need one guy to take care of her.

Outside of the territory, the war between gangs is slowly heating up, and water mages are valuable, especially one that has been educated in some regard and improving their finances. They are not hesitating in protecting her when she is out.

Considering that guy was killed horribly for saying to Pakis that his beatings were taking it too far inspite of being a bottom rung of the mob, I can't see him having a good time once the boss finds out.

i know he FOR SURE wasn't on his right mind but like... what was the plan "oh yeah lemme attack the kid that's doing a job for the higher ups and figure it out from there" and think nothing would happen??
Kinda easy to look over with our MC, but children are immature and dumb, especially when they've never gotten any education.
Streets smarts only gets you so far, 'ya know?

Which after that happens, the boss is like: "Okay, I am going to give her a TON of guards."

If she's successful with her ways, the definition of 'slaves' will slowly start to distort from expendable physical labor into valuable workforce in the community.
Historically, slaves were valuable workforce (atleast in rome) they were very expensive to buy, so slave owners were inclined to treat them well. Roman slaves were even given the opportunity to eventually buy their own freedom with the wage they made.

You're probably more thinking about labour conditions in the industrial revolution.

I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I want more.
Also, Pakis is going to get at least a solid choke hold and pass out, nothing more (if he is related to the boss in any way)
... and if my memory serves me right, the figure that was on the other side of the room on fire in the flashback of ch1 was around his size... so unless I am horribly off the mark, I guess that their relationship is not going to get any better.

Some will, I believe. But not everyone treats their things well. Slaves, by definition, are people who are not protected by law.

I dont understand how your argument changes anything. But yes, slaves were treated like expensive equipment.

Obviously there are people who don't take care of their "equipment" but because of the price, slave owners had a reason to take care of them.

Note that this isn't to defend slavery. This is to clarify misconceptions both in your comment, and in the story.

Similar to how people believed the medieval ages were all dirty.

I'm not sure what's there to clarify though. There exists royalties, nobles, commoners, serfs, and slaves being the lowest caste. Slaves being subjected to corporal punishment and sexual abuse is part of the norm, not the exception.

You can say that the glass is half full, but I'll say that it's half empty.

Other than nobles who love to keep themselves clean, most people from the past would be dirty in modern standards. They didn't have the leisure (nor the knowledge) to keep their hygiene, and water wasn't easily accessible either. Would you shake hands with someone who never washed with soap?
