It's another idiot ball isekai. Historically arena shows were either elaborate, gruesome executions or serious competitions. Gladiators were highly regarded celebrities who were well fed and looked after to ensure the best performance. There's even accounts of noble women sleeping with them. It's common sense to treat their bodies with care. Look at race horses.

Does the boss just sit on his ass all day
Theres gotta be more going on day to day than a fighting den and some slum rats selling water
I'm just wondering how producing 02 produced O3 (ozone.) Not sure if the manga writer understands that.
Something something her power isnt actually water but control of oxygen and hydrogen I guess
Or her control of water as an element is so precise that she can split the molecules 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

If we're talking about a single match, sure. But if more matches are to take place, people will probably start seeing potential in the contestants. So, even if they lose against opponent A, they might be more likely to win opponent B. And as Frim said, this makes people enjoy the act of gambling itself. Their faith in a contestant will be reflected by their bets, and such a faith can only be built up on someone who has participated in more matches—even in ones they lost—than the new guy who came to fill in for the other who died. Also, if a better is really confident in a contestant and they die, they might lose a lot of motivation and choose to not come back anymore.
Agreed, I just find it hard to believe the slaves are "sophisticated" enough to buy into the rules and letting the ref separates them when they get tangled up and not want to just balls to the wall death brawl when adrenaline is pumping. And even if you're among the wiser ones to see the merit in the new boxing arrangement, all it takes is for your dumb opponent to not see it and start clawing and biting and going for the kill for all of this to crumble.

ok? that's the Colosseum, this is an hole in the wall pub, with illegal pit fighting, it's called context, also, this isn't Rome, nor somewhere where noble women go, also, historically, colosseum matches weren't to the death, since those guys are expensive to train, where as these guys are low grade slaves.

If she can separate the water into it's components she can do a lot of funky stuff aside the ozone bit, like becoming a fire mage (igniting the hydrogen with the oxygen, but again this shit is volatile as fuck), "painting" shit with gold and my favorite, poisonous water using deuterium (highly inefficient but with enough dosage is doable, double dip because you cannot, ever, identify the poison with normal methods) or super kill time with oxygen water.
Ozone is plenty toxic. She has a way to make someone suffer from chest pains and damaged lungs, if enough ozone is given to them. I suppose it would take a high concentration and prolonged exposure to kill a person, but it can make them unable to chase after her.

If she can manipulate hydrogen and oxygen, and on top of that also manipulate their temperatures and pressure, can't she essentially do nuclear fusion using deuterium? Though it would probably take a lot of mana/energy.
Essentially, she could summon a nuclear explosion by fusing small amounts of hydrogen.

Idk if they actually translated the grimoire but wow that's amazing and wow sometimes I kind of wish they include mega translation monologues (pg 10) at the end cause I wasn't able to infer all the parts covered and I'm not sure the longer inferences are correct either:

(spells?) can be made manifest, but if the body lacks sufficient magical power, the results can be extremely dangerous. To control one's own magic a practitioner may use a formula, a catalyst, or even a magic circle to stabilize the flow. This rank of magic is the most basic and fundamental, but in the end, it relies heavily on the caster's own sense of control and intuition. Visualization is the quickest way to clarify intent-though naturally, this varies from person to person. Indeed beings such as dragons, spirits, demons, and even celestial entities all channel magic differently. It ultimately depends on how their bodies internally manages and circulate magical energy. Some that wield magic claim, "Magic is part of nature's will" In this philosophy it manifests to the extent of the caster's attunement with the natural world. Take, for example, a burst of wind depending on the caster's intent and surroundings, it might blow gently...or erupt violently, spells of fire may spark or rage, depending on how it's summoned. One philosophy insists that although spells may appear identical at first they eventually can be distinguished by the way they interact with natural elements and forces in tandem. Especially around on the outskirts of (???)tably high. When called upon, spirits can leverage their power allowing mages to cast spells through them, even if the mages magical reserves are low. This cooperative casting draws from the spirits energy and the mage's intent. A prime examples in the magical and spiritually sparse regions, a basic illumination spell may fail to be as dense with spirit presence, even a small flicker of light (???) achieved. Over time this has.....
