and talk about precious. after meeting Liz and hearing rumors of her, he thought Liz was crossdressing because she likes girls. it's his reason for growing out his hair. as for the reason why he cut it... the talk about a destined one implied that she doesn't see him as an elgible partner, not to mention different parts of his status stacking up against him (eg. being a third son) He decided to change himself because he realized his pursuit is futile, but he'll persist by her side as her 'closest friend.'
