Syl said she is a god so it is ok. The other demons wanting to harm Lucelia will be no more than some tiny pests to her. Typically gods in those stories are egoistical, so I think Syl will be the same. It is like Lucoa in dragon maid, she is an overwhelmingly strong individual so others can't do shit about what she want to do.

Sylphy and Lucelia were both amazing as always... the two stooge friends were pretty entertaining too.
Hopefully, the childhood friend either is quickly removed from the story or becomes relevant to it somehow. These characters that only exist as objects of affection are almost always complete drags, even if they're largely out of focus.

Ngl I hate the childhood friend in those stories too. Goddamn broski, you got 2 cute girls here for you, but you keep thinking about that other girl who only talked to you a bit and is generic as hell. Constantly aiming for the worst option ain't it.

The thing about that conversation being so unhinged? I've actually lived with people like that. And it's every bit of a riot as you think it is. There was hardly ever a dull moment. Even their child was outrageous.

Spoiler: The Puppy Pad Incident

There was this one incident during a dinner with my friends, Tim and Cathy and Cathy's 8 year old daughter, Kate. Cathy is in her eighth month with her and Tim's first kid together. We're all cracking jokes and yucking it up as usual, when Cathy says we need to stop or else she's gonna pee herself (as her bladder has been reduced to nothing at this point).

Now, one of Cathy's favorite words is "free", so she's always on the lookout for people throwing out perfectly good shit. She came across an old hospital in the area that was shutting down and made off with some bed-liner pads they use for patients with incontinence - she called them her "puppy pads" and used them as bathroom matts.

At Cathy's warning about peeing herself, Kate's face just lights up the same way as when someone gets an absolutely BRILLIANT idea, dashes off to the bathroom, and then comes back with the puppy pad wearing the biggest shit-eating grin you can imagine on a little girl's face.

"HERE MOMMY!"

Cathy falls out of her chair and scrambles for the bathroom, but it's too late. She couldn't even be angry at all, though. It was fucking beautiful timing on her daughter's part.

As for the "gununu" sfx, I'd translate that as "grumble-grumble" or something similar, as it implies an irritated, unintelligible sound someone is making. Though for fun, I might have done "grumble-fuck-mutter" - not quite accurate, but it gets the point across in a hilarious way, which seems to be the spirit in which this manga is written.

For this chapter, the "cloth lifting" sfx, I would have translated that as "fwip", like the sound a cape makes when you whip it around.

I still think that Sylphy is all Kaito needs, but Hitsugaya is pretty and helpful; this is one of those instances in which I wouldn't mind a harem.

The rest can disappear, though--especially Katsuragi. Seriously, the girl--bland as she is--makes no move whatsoever to express interest in Kaito...while a literal goddess--who acts and looks the part--makes no real secret of her affection for him, going just short of expressing those feelings (Sylphy was trying in this chapter--a man shouldn't force a lady to go that far). She's even tried to arrange a date over tea and snacks with him, and got rightfully upset when she got snubbed. Kaito knows what Sylphy actually looks like if he wants to play that "little girl" angle (no "little girl" I know of has breasts that big), and Sylphy's character is no secret--she's proven her loyalty time and time again, even saving his bacon from a different dimension.

The story has carved its own path--one far better than the pointless pedobait the anime became, and better even than the source material as well if what I heard is correct, but the author still has a fork in the road to choose where romance is concerned: either he can have Kaito take Sylphy's path of exceptionality (because, indeed, your average JP male MC is apparently allergic to girls as beautiful as Sylphy) or he can have Kaito take the path trodden totally flat by countless other MC-kuns and thereby have Kaito take the plain girl that "doesn't stand out" (and where Katsuragi and Kaito's perception of her are concerned, the irony is not lost on me).

That aside, I hope Kaito's main weapon is actually something strong and awesome--not a dinner implement that's somehow all-powerful because of Magic™. If a girl can have a naginata, surely Kaito can have something cooler than a magical dinky dirk.

All that aside, it seems that there's something ordinary people (and definitely Kaito) don't realize. The dungeons are treated, if the narration and Kaito's descriptions are any indication, like a special space in reality that has its own rules and the like--probably like a game, I'd venture--demarcated by those dungeons. Thing is--and even though the monsters therein do not come out--you can bleed and die in those dungeons just as you can in the human world, and you can leave the dungeons with things you've found in them.

To put it simply, the dungeons aren't as separate as people think, nor as limited by the apparent boundaries of those dungeons. Sylphy's already broken at least one rule/restriction (she's acted on her own without being summoned, and cannot be measured or totally identified even by the systems in place to do so). I think that the dungeons are an overlapping of a different dimension--maybe one of the worlds Sylphy spoke of when she rescued Lucelia--with the human world. Whatever it is, there are beings (like Sylphy herself, as an example Kaito is familiar with, Berlia, or the demon king) that exist in civilizations that are least on the same level as humanity's, in worlds at least adjacent to whatever world the dungeons are in or from. With Lucelia--a victim of politically motivated violence and torture--being rescued by Sylphy, in service to a human, the distance between those civilizations and that of humanity is shrinking.

The higher-ups, in keeping with what Hitsugaya once warned, probably know most (if not all) of this too.

Lucelia antics, 11/10, can't ever get tired of this lol.
Just re-read the series so far as I was watching the anime after holding myself back since it didn't really appear to follow the manga and... boy did they make a boring and bad adaptation, I'm just crying tears of blood from the disappointment /insert this is so ass meme //insert.
The story gets such a huge downgrade, the personalities are so boring and flat, and the animation and designs are just so second rate for something that could have been absolutely awesome and the freaking star of the year or even the decade.
How sad, honestly, just... ugh...
And for those that think the story has gotten nowhere in the manga, the anime picks up the slack just at episode 7, so 34 manga chapters condensed into 7 (yes, the anime is based on the LN, but the story is generally the same), but then remove the absolutely fucking epic Lucelia x Syl fight, remove all the unhinged moments and talks, remove the epic and dynamic fights (yes, the manga is more dynamic than an animation, lol), remove the actually interesting personalities of each character, and replace it all with some badly written and poorly executed date sections and "overworld" interactions. Oh, and we don't get the otherworldly Syl house visit.
Honestly, the only saving grace of the anime is Lucelia's personality SOMEHOW holding on for dear life. ffs, even the friends have more personality and human reactions than the MC and the FMCs...

So I got here, reread everything to cleanse my palate, and I will keep watching from chapter 7 after a couple of days... because honestly, what a HUGE let down, the manga has really spoiled us, and Teri Terio is a freaking GOD. Reminds me a bit of what ufotable did for the incredibly mediocre Kimetsu no Yaiba when they made the anime adaptation of the manga, but applied to a LN to manga adaptation.

But well, for the people that can't understand relative grading, the anime is still a solid 6.5/10, perhaps a 7/10 if we push it, though animation is a clear 5/10, designs a 6/10, execution perhaps a 6 as well... story gets a 7/10, music a 7/10,... it's honestly not bad, but the manga is just so vastly superior on all fronts, that it's just infinitely sad to see what we ended up getting.

PS: God Terio, please do your best, this series is comedy gold, and a freaking masterpiece, I might even consider importing it all the way from Japan since there's no chance in hell it will ever be licensed here unless I fund a licensing business and do it myself.

It is baffling how enjoyable and fun the manga is compared to The Anime & WN. The Anime is pure tripe and feels like a an awful fan fiction of the manga and just a bad adaptation of the WN. While the WN is so much slower paced, with weaker character dynamics, and far less gripping.
