@SveNo Not to be that guy but this is a misconception: the PIE reconstruction of *kérbero- as "spotted" is flaky to say the least. It was once commonly accepted due to lack of accurate knowledge of common IE myths and an ambiguous Vedic Sanskrit śabála-, assumed to be its derivative, that means both "spotted" and "of multiple colors".
