Wh... what are you supposed to do with it? You can't eat it like a chocolate, you can't eat it like an egg, you can't keep it as a memento because it'll spoil... do you just throw it out and she gives you another one every week? (Corollary: Love the way Okayado's harpies respond to dealing with their eggs in the MonMusu precursors.)

@zawarudo Is that how it works? I thought eggs are laid unfertilized too.

...is that what he's supposed to do with it?

@Psychronia As far as avians are concerned, eggs are usually laid regardless of fertilization. Chicken hens start laying eggs as soon as ~4mo for some breeds, even if they've never been in the vicinity of a rooster.

I suppose it's better than getting eggs from a fish-like species. Then, as Philip J Fry learned, you may actually be expected to actually do something with them.

As @Harvester said. Eggs that are laid externally are never laid fertilized, at least as far as I know. Every animal that lay eggs (note, not every single species in the families listed lays eggs) from fish to birds to reptiles all lay unfertilized eggs. So generally speaking, it'd be just a regular egg unless there's something fucky going on there. Besides the whole harpy thing.

@zawarudo You must have missed the Monster Musume episode where the harpy laid an egg. Also you must have never eaten a chicken egg before since almost all chicken eggs are unfertilized. Or did you think you were actually eating unborn chickens?

This is the equivalent of giving someone a chocolate covered tampon

They lay fertilized eggs if they had sex first. Except fish, which are fertilized outside.
But birds and reptiles have sex and lay fertilized eggs in almost all cases.
But if they didn't find a mate in time, the eggs are laid unfertilized.
