What a nice insight into Japanese Buddhist spiritual lore. I see a lot of similarity with Hindu folklore on spirits. Many Babas such as Neem Karoli Baba too had the ability to look into the people, see what’s troubling them and help them out. This just feels like a Japanese tale of its own. Wonderful slice of life.
