This is weird. Why didn't he just apologize in middle school before asking her out? If she has no romantic interest in boys even dressing as a girl shouldn't change anything. The ending makes it seem like he never apologized and they had no relationship, he just kept confessing. Why? It seems like there was very little thought put into this.
