Gatekeeping is a good thing. Normies (especially those from Twitter) can't handle any sort of spice.

those bots (it’s twit after all) are getting even more angsty these days.

Honestly its just a light hearted fictional romance and a fun read. Dunno about the discourse over R* and supposed trans users hating on it. Trans myself and i found the characters design and reactions cute and adorable. Im hyped for more chapters that ive been re-reading ch1-2 multiple times

I was withholding my judgment but yeah this stinks. The rape stuff is outta pocket but it somehow rams it's way head first into every classic bigoted stereotype. Dropped.

dickbags will be dickbags. Personally I appreciate you uploading this at all, please keep it coming, it's very cute; If people don't like it then they can move on. Please keep it on dynasty as well, I think it would be a misstep not to.

Whaaat twitter peeps sure are weird lmao, how is this remotely rapey I read raunchier stuffs than this. Shit is more fluffy and cute if anything else

It's not exactly close to yuri imo anyways, but often I can see some who either agrees or disagrees that it is close to that genre (I mean heck my whole favorite trope is femboy in an all-girls school like otodome)

Was apprehensive with the premise, and if they'd lied about who they were it'd be another story. But they outed it was them the second she first saw them crossdressing, no one is being tricked. Am interested in seeing just where it goes and how it ends up, lot of directions it could go. Maybe crossdressing leads to some self discovery alongside sexuality discovery on the other side and they're a yuri couple by the end. Maybe there's no self discovery and only sexuality discovery and they end up just friends because she knows she wants a girl and they're not in that ending. Maybe she's not gay and just likes her boys cute, which is the worst ending to me but not awful.

There was some pretty crude humor in the first chapter but still worth seeing how it goes.

Yeah, it's important to tag your stuff properly because readers don't like surprises like this. You lose twice because those who wanted some yuri will be disappointed, while those who don't read yuri won't even pick it up.
I think it’s time to give this genre, the love comedy between a girl and a crossdressing boy, a specific name (on MangaDex , “yuri” is considered a genre, while “crossdressing” is only treated as a theme). Similar reactions from yuri fans are also quite common in the Chinese fandom, and I think the term “nise-yuri (pseudo-yuri)” could help reduce conflicts between different fandoms.

Below is my previous message from another post:
In Chinese we call it pseudo-yuri (nise-yuri) (萌娘百科). In order to avoid confusion over terminology, we divided crossdressing-related yuri into three categories: a) ⚢ crossdressing yuri (男装百合 dansō yuri), between a girl and a crossdressing girl, which is real yuri (or GL); b) nise-yuri (偽百合), between a girl and a crossdressing boy (otokonoko); c) ⚣ ura-yuri (裏百合), between two crossdressing boys. The last two are not real yuri.
In the other side, we have a) ⚣ crossdressing bara (女装薔薇 josō bara), between a boy and a crossdressing boy, which is real bara (or BL, yaoi); b) ⚤ nise-bara (偽薔薇), between a boy and a crossdressing girl; c) ⚢ ura-bara (裏薔薇), between two crossdressing girls.
This classification is useful for distinguishing three categories corresponding to ⚢, ⚤, and ⚣, since many readers prefer not to mix them together. For example, some yuri fans object to the inclusion of a crossdressing boy in works mistakenly marketed as yuri. Giving each category its own name makes discussions clearer and helps avoid unnecessary arguments between different fandoms.

Keep it up its a cute series i don't see how its harmful or bad rep yet tbh. There's a lot that can be explored not just with MC but MMC. Like to like someone so much and when they say they may like girls your decision is to become one for her? 🤔🥚❓️

But in all seriousness even if it never explored such themes, so far it seems fairly inoffensive. But what do I know?

I don't think that the comparisons to certain common stereotypes are totally invalid, but I don't see how anyone arguing in good-faith can call this "rape." They both know exactly what's going on the whole time, and while he seemingly wanted to surprise her at first, the very first thing he said after showing up as "Momiji" was that he was Kouyou. He gave himself no to time to take advantage of her.

Regarding the stereotypes, though, I also think people need to keep in mind that stereotypes aren't inherently always a bad thing. Like, it's a stereotype for Chinese people to be smart, but that doesn't mean that you have to make all your Chinese characters average-to-stupid. The problem is the generalization and use of stereotypes as a shortcut to avoid depth.

Like, yes, "guy dresses up as a girl to get flirty with girls" is a common stereotype of transgender people. (Arguably an even more common one in Japan than the US!) But that doesn't mean that it can't ever be depicted. Besides, at least right now, there's obviously a different nuance here than compared to the typical depiction. It is just too early to make serious criticisms there.

But of course, the people complaining probably haven't even read this and aren't going to read this, are they? I'd bet that 90% of them just read the blurb and were in the mood to be mad about something.

Also important to keep in mind that this is yet another case of a story with trans themes not being gender-nonconforming "correctly." Like, it just shows that these people are the sort that only really care about this stuff because they've been told to care, rather than because they actually do care. (Same as the people who claim to be "anti-racist" yet only care about Black Americans and still fling shit at everyone else.)

Crazy how a single joke description made by Mogura brought so much hate to this series which is just your regular dumb crosdressing romcom and not even disrespectful (to not say other words) like some people are trying to label it

This was never tagged as Yuri either on MD or by the official publisher, the overreacting by some people on twitter was caused by a description made by Mogura when the admin joked about it being "Yuri(?)"
God I hate that account. I kinda like that they constantly post about random series and seeing what pops up is always interesting, but its blatantly clear that anytime a tweet of theirs blows up its because of a dumb synopsis they made that is clearly exaggerated to drum up engagement. And I especially hate when their "hit tweets" start connecting the toxic western internet to the real mangaka just doing their thing with their passion and trying to make a living. Its not even like regular "any publicity is good publicity", every single one of these western viewers will not and cannot support the creators of these manga so how about we just stop potentially stressing them out over the opinions of some irrelevant folks over seas. Its infuriating to say the least.

Thanks for the TL. Keep translating what you enjoy. We are here for it.

As with everyone else, drop Twitter/X as bots are going to bot. 90% of the time I assume the posters didn't even read the work.

This series seems to be more, I'll do anything to be with the person my hearts with even if I have to be a girl. Who knows maybe he ends up enjoying being one and switches to it permanently. So many directions this story can go.

It's an interesting topic because if I had to pick I would call it yuri. I think the yuri genre is less about the lesbian part and more about the fantasy of a perfect, pure and clean relationship that would be "ruined" by a stinky dirty perverted male. So it's about two women, but that's technically not a requirement.
So is two women having dirty kinky sex not yuri, then?

Speaking as a trans woman is does seem to be kinda trashy in that typical "kinda fetishizing imagery and experiences of trans girls" way but like we said. Typical. We don't think it's gonna happen but the fact the other MC has no qualms seeming to identify as a girl(?? it seems?) honestly makes it seem like, at least not cowardly so we'll give it that?? Most crossdressing stories don't cross that barrier in our experience so, it's kinda crass and ass but proud of it? I don't expect it but it's enough to squint at the "male" protag to wonder if anything else is going on there, but we're only two chapters in so we expect some development at least lol

I know other people are mad about the trans rep, but I feel it's there. I can tell the love interest isn't fully a boy at least. Like they were way too comfortable switching gender presentation. I'm really hoping it gets to have depth of questioning your sexuality and gender identity, but it's fine if it also stays as a sort of tensing romcom like it is right now. Like legit everything feels earnest.
