As I recall, generally servants of Death, i.e. Dullahan, Shinigami, Grim Reapers, etc. Don't really take lives, not in the physical sense at least, they Shepard the souls of the recently departed. If you have a god of Death or any of their servants coming after you in life it's usually because you have fucked up to a biblical degree and either pissed of the gods themselves or messed around with life and souls too much like extending your life force through sacrificing the souls of others for example.
