I don't get what kinda mood this story is going for. Chapter 1 still seemed rather comedic in parts and then there was... everything here.

lol, mc so unlucky - nothing to do with luck, just abusive, psychopathic parents
lol, mc has such a weird grin - that he adopted to get hit just a bit less
lol, the god is a strange, chain smoking loli - yeah, I guess?

So the heroine straight up tries to murder MC?

This is one of those extremely idiotic, trash mangas:

Poor MC has no backbone. Parents somehow are the worst human beings at all, no reason why. Nobody else notices anything about it.
One of the protagonist characters appears and the first thing she does is try to kill an innocent human. And, of course, he's going to accept that and have her as a companion.

Japanese brains
that's a classic

I think you underestimated how big clan culture and 'family' sticking is, especially a hypocritical society doesn't want to face their problems

Man, this manga adaptation seems to be taking quite a different route compared to the light novel.

I haven't read the light novel, but I looked at the descriptions and images of the two volumes currently available and this girl that's appeared at the end of this chapter is only supposed to appear from volume 2. He's supposed to have a whole adventure in the first volume.

Here's my prediction: this is an ad for the light novel, since they're rushing to introduce the (probably) main heroine as quickly as possible. I expect this manga to be quite a mess.
where to read the novel?

Look, I've never been abused the way the MC here was... but I feel like the psychology of an abuse victim wouldn't quite work like the author wants it to? If living is such misery and he's truly not afraid of death—even seemingly welcoming it as his reaction to surviving being eaten seems to indicate—then there should have be no barrier preventing him from committing suicide in a way that's definitely fatal like
slashing his wrists longways before falling off the top of a skyscraper into traffic
.
Not all suicide ideation actually leads to suicide. Not all abuse and suffering leads to suicide ideation.

It's not like clockwork you may think it is. If what you think the way it works is suddenly made reality, then I bet half the human population would be gone. Everyone would bite off and choke on their tongues.

So as soon as he has anything to live for, his skills become useless? That's my understanding anyway. Not too interested in this one.

It feels like a protag who isn't either afraid of dying, or of pain, should be completely free to act in whatever way he pleases with no fear of consequence... surely this MC won't be a massive spineless coward.... surely... :notlikethis:

That's the mystery of life.. when you don't want to live anymore, miracle happened, and somehow you just live a life that you can't even imagine before....
