I, for one, support and pledge fealty to our new pigeon king. May his reign be long and bloody.
He also memorized her favorite animal (Central Bearded Dragon) after multiple chapters of getting the name wrong (and the "extra" of that chapter showed him actively working to memorize the names of various reptiles so that he wouldn't trip up on them in front of Haida).Fumbles aside, it’s super sweet how Kuroi is cutting back on smoking for Haida.
Agreed. That’s why I like his character so much. He has an awkward way of showing it but he’s really trying to put an effort into their relationship. He also memorized her favorite animal (Central Bearded Dragon) after multiple chapters of getting the name wrong (and the "extra" of that chapter showed him actively working to memorize the names of various reptiles so that he wouldn't trip up on them in front of Haida).
And, Haida caught him taking pictures of a flyer for that reptile prize event in ch.21, so that he could bring it up with her later.
We also see him cooking for himself more and more as the chapters go on, as opposed to simply eating instant cup ramen or convenience store bento, or something.
The changes are incremental, but they're both slowly changing to better themselves for the other. Kuroi arguably has further to go than Haida in certain ..."fundamental ways", but those changes are evident.

And she doesn't have a clue of what he wants either. To be fair, it's not like she's been communicating her wants this entire time. She has really only started doing it since like around chapter 16 or something (and she's still not doing it well).

How he's portrayed so far makes me think he has the hots for Kuroi, no thanks to his girlfriend being so lukewarm in her responses.Kuroi's weirdo coworker having a gf is the biggest twist in the manga so far.
And honestly, if you take a step back and actually appraise them both, forgetting that Haida is a cute manga girl for a second, you clearly see that she is not much better than him (other than the smoking). I would likely have dipped after that second date after the amount of shutting him down and insulting that Haida did. They're both quite flawed and are trying their best nonetheless, which is what makes this so fun.Although I get where you’re coming from, it’s really believable in this story, cuz while he isn’t ill intentioned or really a bad person, he’s still quite a bit immature when it comes to relationships. This failure felt really natural in the way it occurred and who it occurred to, but we keep seeing signs that nonetheless Kuroi is trying his best to improve (like him cutting back on smoking), and so he’ll keep on doing better. This story is intentionally based around loser-type characters who try and improve for their significant other, which is why it’s so enjoyable. Every step forward for either character feels like a big moment every time, regardless of how small it is.
