Probably didn't help that they severely underestimated her, because they thought intruding through a window would be enough to frighten a helpless noble girl rooted to the spot and give them an easy kill. Professional assassins don't rely on unreliable things like causing fear. They just go for the kill. As an assassin, you have one job. Kill the target.
