Like Rosemary and the 2nd Prince, they’re not outright evil or irredeemable. Simply products of their environments. A spoiled brat who was constantly told she was the world’s most lovable person getting an upgrade in status will become more arrogant, especially if majority of people around her refuse to say no or properly reprimand her.
A prince whose mother and maternal family is power hungry and is told from a young age not to trust or associate with his half brother, that he should be king but is constantly compared negatively against said brother will lash out and desire control and genuine validation in his own life.
And finally children, born out of an affair with egoistic and selfish parents, either denied or buttered up by people who despise them for their status as illegitimate children or just want in with power, will only trust each other and themselves.
I hope they can change Ismail’s fate. I think it’s too cruel.
I mean I didn’t age still don’t like Rosemary, but she and the others are still young. They can change their ways and forge their own paths.
yeah - this chapter fully convinced me that the twins should not die. They
do need to face consequences, but honestly I hope they get help, more than anything.
Their
parents need to be properly dealt with, I think - mostly because they are adults, the mom's using her kids as tools for her own selfish ends, and the dad/prince is just a horny bastard who would make a terrible king anyway and would probably be best relegated to some backwater manor with all his titles stripped of him and left with some hot women and enough money to satisfy his lust but not actually cause problems for royalty or country.
But given Shagard seems to think emulating his new muse Serena means "killing everyone" (weird conclusion since he doesn't know she's an assassin, but okay), I wonder if
this will be Serena's moment to grow and convince him not to execute his half-siblings and instead choose a more level-headed path. It feels like that might be the direction this plot point is going, anyway - something to push Serena to continue developing past her "survival of myself is all that matters, kill all threats in the way" mentality.
