I commented in earlier threads, this series is interesting in premise but burns out on what made it interesting, and the author was so determined to follow the original conceived plot that they missed that they actually made Serena 19956 fall in love with Scaranet rather then having any interest in Prince Evan.

Edit: Whoa, Nelly! I'm not talking about her style of fighting, bcuz, yes, as an assassin, this is a little out of her element. I'm solely talking about her bearing and movements. The bearing, her fear and inability to move forward here, is waaay off the mark from the hardened, "if I die, oh well" mentality that she has displayed since chapter 1. She can't even get her footing, ffs. As a hardened assassin she has already steeled her own thoughts of death, up until this chapter, anyway. Also, assassins don't kill in just one way. They kill in the way that they have to, within the allotted time they have been given. You can't catch people off guard 100% of the time. Not every kill is when they're unguarded and asleep and in the dark. Sometimes you have to attack a well secured carriage in broad daylight, because it's the only option available in the time you've been given. My whole comment is about her inability to think on her feet and the fear that's running through her, nothing more, nothing less.

Assassin's aren't necessarily expert fighters. They sneak in, get the target unprepared and alone, and then strike and kill them swiftly and efficiently. But this is an entire army of monsters.

you're thinking about Assassins Creed where they're able to fight head on against a platoon or bears with no plan whatsoever. Real Assassin would prepare 3-5 step ahead before executing their target but right now Serena here doesn't have the luxury of prep time nor any proper equipment to kill a big monster plus she's having an identity crisis at the moment. again, she's trained to kill human where being poked in the eye would make them winch or even faint and die but a beast is a different matter their tenacity would let stay in fighting stance and Serena here totally no familiar against those thing

It is quite consistent. Serena was an assassin specialized in 1v1 stealth human-killing job. When she against a big monster, she could never win in head-on fight. She need to ambush it.
So that kinda makes sense why she looked weak in this battle.

She has a tiny ass dagger, is not used to fighting monsters and is in a dress. She is also confused cause she decided to defend someone, like it is a major character growth moment for her. Though it has been hinted at before that she is nicer than she let's on.
