Agreed. I feel like this also had a lot of potential if it continued forward.

The peaceful island the former Demon Queen was building, the slow collapse of the humans and demons responsible for her deciding to fake death and relax, the Hero learning how evil everyone around him actually is, etc all gave possibilities for future plot arcs.

The fact that revenge wasn't the focus and the retirement to slow life didn't constantly involve aura farming and fan service was something I found a major positive but likely did not help its chances.
