This is the worst way I've seen a primary character be dealt with. Implications of the bad guy and MC getting a face-to-face confrontation (esp. after their last meeting), only for the guy to get eaten by a "god" that appeared from no where because of the actions of someone that also appeared from nowhere despite having such a plot-pivotal thing tied to them. Then said "god" gets one-shot by the MC within 4 pages of the MC appearing.
Very little displays of strength to explain and set in how bad and powerful this "god" is. Incredibly anti-climactic ending to a one of the bad guys. The main points of this current set of chapters should have been "There's a rebellion happening" and "the bad guys are approaching the MC". Instead we have "BTW there's a rebellion" and "BTW the bad guys are kinda in the same vicinity of the MC".
At this point, the MC is basically a poorly done insta-win button, a main plot character was unceremoniously killed by something that only lived for 14 pages, the rebellion has gone from "it's happening" to "it's fucked" to "it's still happening" with almost little to talk about it or explain what's going on, and so on.
At this point I'm not even sure what the author wants from this series. Is it a story about the MC? Are the characters immediately around the MC the focus? Is it a story about the kingdom? The rebellion? What the hell is the point of this story? It's like someone took genuinely good ideas from other stories and mashed them together without understanding why they were good ideas and didn't bother even thinking about it.
If it wasn't for my policy of "don't rate a series until it's complete", I'd be giving this a 4/10. It's just bad so far.
