Well, he is tippy toeing to not make a mess out of things, but also because if I remember correctly in one of the earlier chapters he did note that while he wants to say one thing the actual words that come out are completely different than his intentions. Seems he has been getting the ability to speak what he wants, but slowly. I wonder if that also plays a role in how things are playing out.

Trying to save someone you went out of your way to admonish in an already frightening situation would be much too annoying. Let the scolding wait until they're in a safer place. This guy is actially being mostly rational in his decisions.

I actually like how the girl didn't immediately fall head over heels towards the MC.
She saved MC because he was the victim. But he was essentially still a stranger. Since she had a special power, I think it makes sense that she was still wary of him. The fact that MC barely explained anything made her worry. I mean unlike us readers, she couldn't read his monologues.

At least she didn't antagonize him blindly.
