"I don't care about witnesses. I don't care what you say. Fight me to the death."
If this is the way this "hero" conducts his justice I don't wanna know how many innocents he has murdered.

Even worse is the hero was right there as he was explaining exactly what was going on. The hero was just blindly following "their justice" and ignoring anything said by Lobelia because the hero already considered Lobelia an irredeemable enemy (so much for Hero of Justice).

Like, I get it. The author is clearly trying to do some sort of deconstruction on the whole hero of justice trope. The problem is that the deconstruction has to occur on both sides, not just one. And so far the "hero" isn't growing. That just makes him an ass. And in the one moment of possible growth for the hero with the "Why are you crying?" line is totally subverted with the fact the hero ran Lobelia through immediately after with no forethought. "I caught you off-guard with a cognitive notice of a mental state that is different than what I thought? BETTER KILL YOU." At that point you are no longer a hero. You are a bully.

The real question on if it will be a good setup is if the "hero" actually learns something in the next chapter(s).
Rather than a bully, he's just a shithead trying to play a hero, with no touch on reality. In fact he fits my words avout justice: "Justice in human hands is the peak of Injustice in and of itself.", and he tries to implement it in society. That's just warped and disgusting.

I was think this before but I guess this is expected? I mean, this conflict started with a member of the hero's group that's a berserker that flies into a blind rage and attacks anyone. That's not exactly 'heroic'.

The states of mind they put me through there :korone:
  • I scrolled past the spoiler warning (as in, scrolled fast),
  • saw the next page,
  • brain registered what the text on prior page had said,
  • panicked (while brain was still registering the image on last page),
  • then was confused as image didn't really reveal the rest,
  • rickroll appeared and understanding [that I got rickrolled) bloomed.
  • Then, came the full-body suffusing feeling of acceptance that I truly got played, realization that it was meant for me, and finally acceptance that I got played (as in, most likely they specifically hoped me to be a/the recipient :wtf:)
Well played, doods. Well played. I laughed and feel sheer respect :D :clap::aquadrink:

Particularly respect for how you were considerate enough to not actually make the panel be a huge spoiler (or at least I can't predict stuff from it) :hearts: (or maybe that was simply because some rule prevent spoilers inside the chapter(?), even with warnings? I prefer my interpretation though <3)

i would suggest

My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending - The hero is naive but hardly stupid. It’s an actual masterpiece of a story, though unfortunately released monthly.

The Great Sage's Beloved Pupil - The hero is intelligent, but he plays a different role in the story. Still, it's unironically very good.

The Villainess' Butler: Death Flag Destroyer at Your Service - The heroine is extremely smart (like literally 70% of the entire cast of manga). It’s an extremely good story, but i recommend reading only if you enjoy romance.
I think he meant when the hero isn’t the MC

The beast princess is alive and kickin', they could've just confirmed the story with her, right? What? Are you saying they're afraid that there might be some brainwashing magic? Then, those mage/priest and the "saint" is useless if they couldn't even dispel such thing. Not to mention, commencing execution "duel" based on assumption without any concrete evidence, smh...

I know they're trying to portray the hero as someone with a crooked sense of justice, but c'mon man.
