It's not nepotism, it's connections.

Nepotism is when you get a job or position based solely on your relationship with someone.
He's only getting a recommendation, and only because his work convinced the other guy. He isn't hired yet.

Cronyism is the word. Still bad and means that Competence does fuck all if you don't know the right people, how is that any different than Nepotism?

For people wondering, this is the end of volume 1. the author is still actively making content on pixiv/twitter so vol 2 is a possibility. In the mean time, we'll be moving on to other projects.

@Rheeve getting a reference is actually good for the hiring team too. If they get reference from a good source, they know that the source has seen the kind of work that person has done and can do. So it basically reduces the effort to go through hundreds of resume and conducting tens of interview, which may eventually lead to none of them getting selected. And getting reference to a company doesn't necessarily mean getting directly hired, that person will still be assessed by the company to see if they fit it's standard.

however you put it, it still means that competence comes second in priority if a recommendation can get you pushed in. If connections trump competence in importance, then the meritocratic system of hiring isn't functional and Nepotism and Cronyism has infected it.
