Thanks for pitching in XD. As for the M551, dunno. I'm on amateur level in regards of weaponry here, but according to ChatGPT, it does use smoothbore barrel.Do Sheridans even have smoothbore guns?
chatgpt isn't a search engine, it just puts words together that "look right". It can and will just make stuff up. It's useful for frameworks and phrasing, but not data. Thanks for pitching in XD. At the very least, i didn't ask ChatGPT whether M551 Sheridan uses smoothbore barrel. I just ask it to tell me what it knows about M551 and somehow it shows up. While it's true we can't always rely on it, but maybe that still comes from somewhere?chatgpt isn't a search engine, it just puts words together that "look right". It can and will just make stuff up. welp, I think I've got an answer. I found a scan of an old maintenance manualAt the very least, i didn't ask ChatGPT whether M551 Sheridan uses smoothbore barrel. In any case, I'm still an amateur here and can't find whether m551 use smoothbore barrel or not on my own XD. So do forgive me, yeah? If you managed to find the answer, do tell us.
Oh wait, I think I found it, maybe? Check it out:So, at the very least, models with rifled bores existed. I don't think I am able to show by looking for them that smoothbore models did not exist (just that I can't find any).
Interesting, guess the author knows his stuff lolOh wait, I think I found it, maybe? Check it out:

The article said "The original gun was later replaced by the ARES 75 mm smoothbore rapid-fire hyper-velocity gun" in the ARMVAL section. CMIIW, but I think this part means that the M551 are later on using smoothbore barrel as the result of the evaluation.
Based on the series I've read from Akimoto Osamu, he definitely seems to know his stuff when it comes to firearms. I'd probably call him a bit of a gun otaku.Interesting, guess the author knows his stuff lol
From the beginning of the chapter? I'm afraid not. If I were to guess from googling around, it's probably FIM-92 Stinger... but I'm not a military expert nor a gun otaku to confirm that.Did anyone get the model on the SAM launchers and missiles?
