Yes I have never read the webnovel version of this and probably never will. I don't read we novel.
If acting like a douchebag is a story foreshadowing then it's probably a dark story. If this is indeed a dark story there should not be so many comedy relief characters that's just poor execution. Beyond that the artist they choose cant do dark theme with this artstyle. It just looks amateur edgy fantasy although it's not really author's fault but it's still a decisional mistake.
Finally if the story is dark in a John Wick kind rather than tragic dark story kind, this is still trash. Because then the author wrote whatever at first then sees and welded everything together.
Yah no. You're wrong on all ur posts unfortunately based on how far i've read up to chapter 200 on novel, which is fortunate as that means by reverse of your statement its actually a good story which it is. I haven't seen any plot holes in the manhwa that aren't explained in the future. The genderbent honestly imo feels rather irrelevant to the story, everyone treats him as male. If you're reading it for the genderbent to anyone reading this, this is not your story. The Mc is very much a "male" character that just happens to be a magical girl and he's definately not a douchebag, rough sure. You're definately just reading this wrong and interpreting things incorrectly. Its a story with solid world building filled and depresion, the mc goes through a lot of suffering in the past and will continue to do so in the future chapters ahead. It is a tragic dark story. One critical issue I've seen others and you do is straight up misunderstand why he's doing things the way he is when he's "bullying" the younger generation and the manhwa is straight up just lacking chapters to get there, but everything is explained later better. TBH i think the manhwa just kind of fked up in explaining it and made people think the MC is just some edgy lunatic guy trying to lash out at society. But its kinda already interpretable his reasons in the recent manhwa chapters once you look at the bigger picture. He's realized that this society is unsustainable in the future. His idea of hero is not the same as societies current verison of a hero. When his friend dies, he's sure pissed at the lunatic that killed him, but he's even more pissed is how people profit off his death through politics or money and people are just there to use his legacy for their own means. He isn't there to bullying younger generation because he thinks they haven't "suffered" like them, the older generation, its cuz when the older generation finally retires/dies due to old age or just dying in combat and humanity is left with this weaker generation of fame/money hungry heroes than humanity is utterly fked because the peace is only temporary, it only takes 1 fk up to end humanity cuz 1 O class can and will wipe out humanity. Its not like O class (strongest monsters that danger humanity) just disappear when old generation disappears. A bunch of streamer and clout chaser heroes will never be able to defend humanity. Its pretty wide difference when you compare a generation of heroes that fought for humanity and for the strength to defend humanity, even while hated by most of society and then this new generation that is only there to become famous and make money while never striving to prepare themselves for when the inevitable danger occurs.
Though, I want to note the story is not all about just beating up the younger generation and so forth, I honestly would say it is a very small part of it, like where the manhwa is currently it will basically never happens again actually. He probably beats up his mascot more often if anything lol (very small spoiler if u want generally get whats going on in the future chapters of manhwa realistically based on novel) mc decides to tackle this issue in a new and more interesting way by creating an opposing hero association to challenge the current one in the ideals of heroes needing to be stronger and not doing this just a for a paycheck. Also I'd say that most of the future chapters are learning more about the other S rank heroes pasts, the sins the old generation of heroes have done to create this "world of peace", and training the two students + some more stuff. The path to humanity's very shaky peace is filled with the sins of the past the older generation heroes have made to create it. It has really interesting world building that actually go into how this peace was created and the suffering and sins along the way to make it occur. Something I rarely see happen in "gate" novels or whatever, as somehow the hunter/whatever association just kinda magically "works" and pops up and the current governments of the world are just somehow chill with it and 0 politics occur. As most of time the "association" is an existing structure before the MC got his powers or the MC was never apart of the general creation. They usually just insert the association into modern japan/korea and it just "works" somehow, its shallow.
"ay at first I thought the intention behind the attacks was to cripple the hero association so civilian has to take it upon themselves to protect themselves but get devastated in process. Sort of like a more logical version of "Hero Has Returned"."
Its never the Mc intention to cause civilian harm. Civilians already know they're incapable of defending themselves without heroes already. He's also very much not going to attack his own friends and very much incapable of doing so. He is not some OP Mc capable fighting the rest of the association.
"Also to why there are no power/authority imposing heroes is crossed out because apparently heroes become heroes with stories. So there are dumba**es on streaming platform but there is no one with a backbone to just hunt down the anti-hero fanatic or to oppose the nonsensical no kill civilian policy not even in self defense."
Its explained already in the manhwa first off they think the anti-hero is a really strong doppelganger monster, second off its already given a story to the MC's student, thus only she can kill it without causing a hole that will ever spawns monsters. So this is why nobody can go kill it. This is already explained extremely early on. So this statement doesnt make sense.
As for him being edgy or john wick. I wouldnt worry, he is very not much John Wick or edgy at all. The older generation is just severally depressed and full of PTSD from the events of past 30 years for pretty valid reasons, they fully go back into lot of character backstory and so forth. I haven't read anything even remotely close to aura farming or edgy at all up to chapter 200. I'd say the world building has got more interesting if anything. Stuff like why mc isn't more well known if he's one of the original heroes and so forth plot holes are all explained in the future. I'd say give it 10-20 chapters for it to be explained soon enough.
Also other person saying its stain arc, its definitely not a stain arc. This character is written so much better than that trash character. Stain is a psycho with 5 year old tinted rose glasses that thinks he deserve to execute justice, while also having 0 understanding of how society works. MC is a 30 year old Vet that knows exactly how fked the world is, contributed to the changes and peace of the world, and then only realizes that things needs to be changed for humanity to stand any chance once the "old guard" dies out or humanity is going get wiped out. They're just drastically two different characters.
