I just realised how this is a commentary on the Japanese society or most of ours as a whole with people wearing masks, not showing what they really think or feel. It's not necessarily that they are trying to hurt others, but also to protect themselves from harm ways too. It's sad.
And maybe Aoi and Sakura don't need to go back to who they were or their respective physical appearances and genders? I still believe being and accepting yourself is... I'm not sure what are the right words. But maybe this is the ways they feel about themselves and who they are and comfortable being. Maybe I'll learn something more at the end of this journey. Hope the manga will get to progress properly according to the author.
