Using them as leverage only works if you see them do things, otherwise it's just informed ability. What the author did was essentially BS a scenario as being threatening. For all we know about these guys, they could be levels 99 when the world average is 50,000, and SS being the second rank from the bottom in terms of strength. They establish nothing but a means of introducing another harem member.
