As per his usual preachy mangas go, this one is one of his better ones, even if he is still dancing around the edges of the core issue that is state policy and public funding in relation to health-care and the cost of living, which is frankly the weakest aspect of the whole thing

Maybe he does something with it, but knowing his other jobs, i wont get my hopes up beyond him just complaining

So seeing how we are still in chapter 7 (or 1...), i think it is too soon to call it peak or trash

OK, I'll bite.

How is this garbage? In 9 chapters Asano has established a world with an interesting premise (human rights are not extended to the population at large and the titular mujina have become countercultural icons) and three characters with clear motivations: Ubume is after the tanuki who stole her freedom, Juno is the bumpkin escaping small-town life for the big city in search of freedom and self-expresiveness, and Terumi is a jaded middle-aged man estranged from his family looking for connection. It's clear the story will explore their dynamics as found family from now on.

I look forward to reading this every month and find Asano tackling social, economic and political subject matter such a breath of fresh air. I know the vast majority of manga readers are here for the power fantasies and escaping reality, but every now and then it's great to see the medium catering to the old farts, however heavyhanded some may find it.

That said, you don't have to like this story. You may find it doesn't cater to your interests. But as it is, your statement about it being garbage is needless hyperbole and factually wrong. Seeing as you haven't even argued your position and are by all lights a random amateur, your statement about anyone being able to write this is also wrong.

Do better.

this is objectively trash; the writing is bad, his attempts at social commentary are embarrassing, the story has done nothing interesting so far, the only thing it has going for it his his signature art style but even then the action scenes don't look good

it's hard to argue such an obvious position because there's basically nothing of value to be found in these chapters
