I can't have any expectations from This manga, no matter how much you want the reader's to pity the main character the maid's attitude doesn't make any sense, it feels like the author usually watchs high school shounen animes and just decided to make an isekai how is this a kingdom with nobles

Having no level is a good start. He got no game panel or confirmation that he is already improved stat-wise or skill-wise.
So I can really appreciate his resolve to improve for the heroine's sake without a quick visible results. When he's probably getting lost on where to start which is the easier moment to give up at that point.

I'm reading the novel right now.
From what I saw, the protag will take some flag from heroine that have a sad backstory in front of him, making him accumulate girls, but he is quite clear he is in a romantic relationship with only his fiancé from the start.
That could explain the confusion.
The others girls respect the fact that he is in a committed relationship and only seek friendship from the both of them.

Yes and no. Souma has many wives and a favorite, yes, but he does maintain a romantic relationship with his other wife.

Here it's more he has only one romantic relationship and the other girls are, at best, his friends and at worst, have an unrequired love for him. But the overall feeling about it is the same in both stories.
