It's hard to tell what the author wants here because it constantly portrays these people as being tricked but their reactions are so extreme that you don't feel any sympathy for them. Oh no they can't catch fish because they're too stupid to actually think about cause and effect or how a "porter" could possibly be the cause of their issues. I don't care, they deserve this.

Univas is basically a doormat. He was a doormat before and for no reason at all receive the hate for the other morons in the hero party despite every moron thinking he was a useless person with no abilities so how could do the things they said he did. Now he's a doormat that's being forced to fix problems he not even related to. No one cares about these people and even the spirits who allegedly see humans as their kids don't care about them since they are being starved to death.
