Define "well-adjusted", then. Adjusted to what? Most isekai protagonists are not well-adjusted people within their own society and neither are the people arguing online about slavery in isekai, no matter which side of the argument they are on.Every time I see this stupid ass bullshit “would you like to buy a slave?” shit I am reminded of that one japanese twitter argument where the guy legitimately goes “I would buy a slave to respect their culture”.
Like what the fuck. There is genuinely no fucking way that you can convince me that a well-adjusted person from the modern era would eagerly participate in the system of slavery.
Considering the amount of fucked up things I've heard people on the "moral" side of things or people considered to be decent, upstanding members of society say, both online and in real life, and how little respect they have for the life of other people, or even the concept of life itself, I wouldn't be surprised if participating in the system of slavery is the least controversial thing a "well-adjusted person from the modern era" would do when given the chance and necessary power to do so.
That said, I'm tired of this trope, too. Not because of the moral implications, though, but just because it's so prevalent and a lazy way to introduce new characters.
