She was also effectively mantled with "you'll be the queen one day" from the time they were both children, and pushed along by the faction that backed her over Luliam and made to shoulder a lot of stress and responsibility from an early age.
That sort of pressure will do a lot to influence how one acts toward even those they care about during one's developmental years, and if she wasn't getting lots of "release" during that time in the form of unconditional love and affection and affirmation from her mother to counterbalance it, then that means she spent her childhood and adolescence being groomed to become queen and not given the chance to ....be a child about it.

I'd argue that her attitude is one born of that pressure, wherein she's had to effectively lock her emotions away because otherwise she'd break down. She took the "you have to be pragmatic and decisive" parts of being a ruler and turned them up to 11, to try and grow up quickly and assume the competency she'd need to be an effective ruler--forgetting that a good ruler also needs to have compassion and a sense of balance in things.

That's not to excuse her for her coldness toward Luliam and Daichi and Nana, but I absolutely understand it if this is where it comes from, and I think I could even forgive her some of it, as it's just as much the fault of those putting that pressure on her as it is hers, especially if she knew no other way because no one in her situation could show her there was another way.

**also forgot that I didn't tack this on already:
Daichi might very well be the first person to actually call Eldora on her bullshit. If she's had no one to push back on her behaving this way and tell her that there's a better path forward, and that she actually doesn't have to shoulder this burden on her own, then it makes sense why she's had this attitude, coupled with no one being there reminding her that she can be a person and have love and affection, and not be required to shut down her emotions and her humanity at all times.
Again, I understand the psychology behind it, but Tamura did not deserve her shit. Like she's summoned to another world without a choice and this person she's meeting for the first time starts talking massive shit to her. I don't care what her background and upbringing is, that's just not ok.

And if we're gonna use the Royal pressure part, her mom is not rude at all.

I'm not saying her coldness doesn't make sense. I'm saying that even understanding her doesn't make it go away or ok.

Sorry for this rant but I always wanted to give Eldora some grace before outright labeling her as a bitch, because it felt like there was more to her than just the prickly exterior. Most of her actions have been for the betterment of the people around her and the kingdom. Even early on, when she admonished Luliam and Nana, it didn’t come off as personal dislike—it was more about her doubts regarding their ability to protect the kingdom due to their lack of proficiency in magic.

The first real glimpse we get of her being genuinely thoughtful is after Luliam and Nana return from Kologne, where she actually praises them for saving the town. That moment, along with her literally jumping in front of a curse meant for Luliam, shows that her actions speak a lot louder than her words.

Chapter 14 adds even more context. That bit of insight into her childhood with Luliam makes it clear that she does mean well—she just has a cold and blunt way of expressing it. When she said “doing as you’re told is simply pathetic,” I didn’t read that as her putting Luliam down, but more as advice. To be Queen, you need to be decisive and have the presence to lead.

And now, in this chapter, we see real growth. Eldora, who previously insisted she would shoulder everything alone, actually concedes to Daichi and acknowledges her as a partner. It shows she’s starting to understand that leadership isn’t about isolating yourself, but trusting others. Plus, the cute moment where she reacts to Daichi teasing her shows she’s not as cold or heartless as she tries to present herself.

But just glad this is back, thanks for the translation!
Still a mega bitch though. It's funny as well because a queen does not act like a sociopath on the surface but caring on the inside unless she wants her entire court to come after her head. Most of your subjects and vassals won't have the time or care to look into your "sweet and wholesome center". If you act this way, you will fail in every aspect of diplomacy where impressions are everything. She HAVE to fix her attitude if she wants to lead people.

Most unrealistic part about all this is that, according to her reaction when told about her bitchness, no one, including the current queen gave her, a queen candidate, a lesson on proper manners and just let her run wild thinking this is acceptable behavior for a royal.
