Just to note, the "Rudy & Elinalise" talk in this chapter is Manga exclusive content (it's not there in the Light Novel).

In the Light Novel, Elinalise was never against Rudy sleeping with a women to get over his trauma, though she also knew that it has to be someone close to him, and not some random like a prostitute.

The thing she was against was herself sleeping with him (and the other situation being Lilia sleeping with Rudy, which Geese once suggests).

It wasn't entirely because of Slyphe either, because she knew that if she explained the situation, Sylphe would understand and forgive her.

But rather because of her own relationship with Cliff.

Since falling in love with Cliff, and leaving him for this journey, Elinalise was already having emotional trouble for having to sleep with other men because of her curse. But as they were all random men, whom she would probably never meet again, she was able to coup with it.

One of the primary reason for this change in Elinalise (who is known to be wild when it comes to sex even ignoring her curse issue) is because Cliff is a follower of Millis, aka., those who believe in monogamy. And because of this Elinalise also decided to try to remain as faithful to him as she could.

But Rudy isn't such a case. She would keep interacting with him for years to come, because of Slyphe and Rudy & Cliff being friends and classmates, which would keep reminding Elinalise of what she did with him.

Well yhere is a character that got broken because of frmale infidelity, Thete is Elinalise that is accepted because circunstances and there is some overly promiscuous one just because why not.

Mushoku Tensei is kinda the wrong story to criticize on this regard because it actually shows many different aspects of real life crap.

You don't NEED to respect it. It's not about respect. You need to UNDERSTAND it. Rudeus has never been a good guy but rather a realistic one.

So we're getting at one of the more challenging and interesting themes of this series, and that is Forgiveness. People make mistakes in life. You can either get depressed and run away, or you can forgive yourself, move forward, and try to do better. So many characters in this story make terrible mistakes, and yet they accomplish great victories.

Paul, for example. He's a horndog who pissed off his entire adventuring party, who almost destroyed his family by cheating, and who fell into despair and booze after the teleportation incident. But he spent years to reunite his family, and ultimately sacrificed himself to save his son. The most fatherly love there is! Paul is a scumbag and also a hero.

Rudy makes mistakes over and over again. His flaws- grandstanding and pride lead to carelessness or recklessness, he's a pervert, and he's prone to depression. This moment is all three. The story acknowledges that sleeping with Roxy is cheating, and it's messed up. Rudy is going to face consequences for it. But it also allows him to move past it.

He's the opposite of a cliché Gary Stu! We're not expected to sympathize with Rudy or praise him for his mistakes. But we are expected to forgive him.

There are multiple Manga, were infidelity of Women is also ok.
You just have to read the right genre.
If you only read Shounen or Seinen, you won't find them regularly. But if you read Shoujo and especially Josei, then you will fight that concept somewhat common.

This, it's bad enough when people who apparently are too stupid to read the fckin TAGS complain about harem being in a harem manga. But to pretend there's no female equivalent ( like cheating or reverse harem) when JOSEI exists is downright dishonest.

Also, just to be clear on the cheating outrage: there's plenty of degeneracy in this series, to be sure, but do keep in mind that Sylphie explicitly told Rudeus that she'd accept him having a second wife (at least in the LNs). Rudeus knows that she won't get mad. Monogamy is somewhat uncommon in that world.
