@Eridian I'm with @cor3zone one of the things that makes Rudeus so interesting is that on the inside he's still the insecure neet without any self esteem. Remember, he was kinda an insufferable prick as a kid before he got transported and found out that he wasn't nearly as powerful as he thought. Combine that with Eris leaving, and it becomes a bit understandable.

@SapphireDemon And that would be fine IF he didn't constantly go between the two. He is constantly fluctuating between being confident, strong and intelligent to being meek, oblivious and dumb. There are certain story times where these changes make sense and work, but why the flying fuck does he go from being a badass adventurer after his girl leaves him, to being a kissass at this school AFTER he shows how much stronger he is than their best student? Why have that personality change at THAT time? It completely breaks the story for me with how little sense it makes. A normal, hell a real person, does not do this. It would take major events to completely change someones personality like that, yet he seems to flip between that at the snap of a finger, and for seemingly no reason now.

a lot of isekai protagonists hated themselves in their previous life, when they come to the new world, with a younger body to redo life or even power to make themselves invincible if applied right, nothing really changes other than a strong desire to change and the power to make damn sure the change happens.

@alidan A lot of isekai protagonists were loners or shut-ins, but rarely have any trouble socializing after being isekai'd. As a loner myself, I can say with surety that Rudy is acting very realistically. Most other isekai protagonists aren't.

@cor3zone The thing is that lots of people are the way they are because they can't be who they feel they are or want to be with so many judgemental eyes around them from people they've known all their life. Lots of people change a fuck load when they move to places where no one knows them. People can be loners due to lack of confidence. MC is working so hard and he has had great gains, but losing family and those he loves started to push him back to despair and depression if not kinda like how he was in his past life. Fuck, I know I can't be what and who I wan to due to my gimped body and mental problems birthed from that. A shitty body will lead to a shitty mind...

@Liquidxlax Yes, of course people can change. But it's never as painless a process as most isekai tells. There will always be that baggage, that voice in the back of your mind saying "you're useless". Most isekai protagonists change, and never have to look back. I like Rudy precisely because he did change for the better, eventually, but he still has to deal with his old flaws.

His personality didn't change. All the while he was a "badass adventurer" on paper he was also polite and meek in person. He displayed amazing skill when killing monsters but when dealing with people he constantly tried to avoid conflict. As for why his personality is that way? Its because this world has a way of kicking him in the nuts whenever he gets a little full of himself.

Her name is different, her appearance is different (she's gone through puberty which would affect her voice as well, and her hair color has changed from its signature emerald to white), and she's deliberately hiding her gender and wearing a disguise that covers most of her face.
